Anyone notice that you can't tip using a gift card anymore? I have been tipping in cash instead.

Also, I just saw the restaurant being promoted at the reimbursement only company. This one would require a phone call as well.

I couldn't figure out how to do it! Did you give it to the server or mobile pay?

@Mellifluy

Are you claiming the guidelines changed and we are not allowed to tip on the GC, or are you saying you cannot figure out how to do it?

I have always tipped with the GC while paying with mobile pay. I'm not willing to give my GC info to the server just in case they want to keep the info for themselves. 99% of the time, it is probably fine, but there will that one jerk that will try and keep it for themselves.

There is a small chain here in AZ (not a shop) where they don't allow you to tip with GC UNLESS you specify to the server how much to run it for upfront. If they just run the card for total, they don't allow you to tip. So you have to tell them how much to run the card for in order to tip with the GC.

I also found Texas De Brazil does not allow you tip with the costco GC. It's pretty lame they do not let you do that, but I have seen that happen a couple times at different locations. I would think unless it is in writing, they cannot do that, but most people do not fight it.
I use my gift card in my Google wallet.

I used to always tip using mobile pay and using a gift card. For the shop I did today, I did mobile pay and I couldn't select the tip option. I could only tip when I choose to pay with a credit card or paypal. I never had this problem before. It looks like it works for viv0412 so I don't get it. I ended up just tipping cash.
I load my gift card into my Google wallet. The server then took my phone to the computer, brought it back and asked me to sign. No clue what he did.

Yes, I noticed this issue as well and almost left without leaving a tip. I'll just give the gift card to the server in the future in case I want to use it to cover the tip.
I don't give the gc # to the server. I worry some of them are shady and will keep the info. It only takes 1 shady server to hose you out of the leftover amount. If you have the $100 gc and only spend $45...you are vulnerable for another $55. I'd rather handle the payment myself. If it won't allow me to tip, then i guess I will leave cash for the tip...but i've never seen this problem before.
I was there tonight and had the same issue. The tip amount showed in the total but as soon as I entered the gift card the tip amount disappeared. Ended up giving the card to the server to process.
I paid tonight with mobile pay and used a GC. Also gave a tip with the GC.

You can check the gift card balance online, and it will give you a history of how it was used as well. I suggest taking a pic of their copy of the receipt, as it will show the tip you are leaving that's from the remaining gift card balance. Then if you see they put in the wrong amount, you could contact corporate and show them the picture with the intended tip.
@jp43209

I'm aware I can do all these things. Guess what? I don't have to worry about any of these things if I don't give the card out to begin with. I am just less trusting than most. If I have a way to pay myself without giving them that info, then that it what i prefer.

I also do not use DEBIT. why? cuz if someone gets ahold of it, they can drain your account. you can fight it and get your money back later. I use CC. I just don't pay the bill if there is a problem with charges.

I do not feel like fighting AFTER the fact. I will prevent it from happening to begin with whether its my BJ gift card balance or my checking account balance.
Can pizza be one of the two entrees for the take-out job? Guidelines don't say either way, just no sides or side salads as entrees.

Why wouldn't pizza be an entree? It's an entree when ordered in the restaurant. You could always use the "contact us" in sassie and ask the scheduler if you are unsure. Or someone who has done it recently can verify for you.
I particularly do not like to hand the print out of the gift card over to the server as I wonder if they will start to recognize them. I have purchased gift cards at xmas time in the past and they did not look like the gift cards they send us. Especially as it gets further and further away from winter holidays I feel I might be outed by that holiday scene. I would suggest just printing out the UPC code with the numbers and hand wrting in BJ on the top of the paper. Maybe I am paranoid but I did get outed long long ago with a different msc so I am skittish about things.
I just write down he gc number on a piece of paper and then pay with my phone.
Why write anything down? You get the GC thru email with the MSC. You can cut/paste the GC number off the email on your phone into the payment app.
Just curious...I have had the regular large pizza for an entree but have you had the small indiv pizza or the tavern cut approved as an entree? The small indiv pizza is a happy hour item.

Yes, pizza is approved as an entree.
Has anyone done the take out with 2 pizzas? It says 2 entrees and I'm wondering if I can do two different large size pizzas.
I have done two burgers and also did two lunch specials...both the same special and they were not an issue.
Was it different burgers? I’ve done the $13 meal deals and also gotten the approved.
I have also done 2 identical lunch specials. Really good deal when you can take $10 off smiling smiley
Thanks for the reply, I ended up getting two sharable pizzas, at least I can eat it through out the week. I feel like my BJ's pizza is always undercooked and doughy, tastes much better in the air fryer. I should have scheduled myself on a Monday with half off pizzas!
Why not just ask for "well done" on the pizza if you think it's undercooked? I usually prefer it "well done."
Have you used the $10 reward coupon from the loyalty program during the shop? I've never used it because I was afraid they'd reject the shop because it says to not use any coupons. I know the wording in the guidelines says you can use reward points, but I didn't want to risk it.
