Cobra health insurance

Does anyone have Cobra for health insurance? How do you like it? I need to switch from PAI.

I as well am thinking of switching to maybe United or Scan...doing both seminars and will see which one works. Cobra not in my area, I now have Kaiser and prices are going up for Senior Advantage plan.

"COBRA" is not a brand of insurance. It is an acronym for the federal law that permits laid-off employees to pick up their former employers' health care insurance for up to 18 months (sometimes longer) if the person pays the full premium out of their own pocket. It can be a real life saver for anyone who can afford the high cost.

It can be a lifesaver, but it is also expensive. Depending on the administrator they can be difficult to work with. That said, I would recommend that route until you can get some individual coverage in place. Just work on an individual policy. My mistake was assuming it was the best coverage for the money and wanting to stay with it as long as possible. There are a lot of other options and it's good to have some time to find the best.

On 2006 and part of 2007 I drained $10.000 from my saving account, just to pay for 18 months of COBRA coverage for myself, your former employer provided it but you must pay for the full premium out of your pocket, the coverage is the same.

Not only do you pay full premium for COBRA, you also have to pay a 2% admin cost on top of that.

I hate Cobra and i am willing to go for some other insurance. Nice to know about few other from this thread.

There is no company that offers the best deal for every person.

To get the best car insurance you will have to sacrifice some time and shop around.

Of course term life and COBRA health are two entirely different things.
