watching tv on computer...........

I have had problems with cable tv. They threatened to disconnect due to a balance of $1.04. I think that is ridiculous. I know there is a way to watch tv on the computer ..may also be a way to watch tv thru the computer on the tv.
Does anyone know how to do this?

Try Hulu, NBC.com, CBS.com, ABC.com, Fox.com, etc. If you don't mind paying for a subscription service, there's a lot available through Netflix.
As far as watching your computer output on the TV. It depends mostly on your computer. The fact that you are asking leads me to believe that your computer is probably not set up for it

Much easier to just send the $1.04 to the cable company in my opinion.

I understand it's the point of doing business with an unappreciative company, but there are hassles on both sides. Cable for the the most part works, as unappreciative as your provider may seem for your business.

You may quickly tire of waiting for picture, even more advertising and technical hassles if you are using the computer to watch programing. You will also need a very high-speed internet connection (which most likely comes from the cable company).
I watch my favorites show on the computer b/c I don't have cable and I only watch the 5 local stations.( which R listed above.) Unless I have a converter box in each room with a TV I can only watch the same show I taped. (which is where the computer comes in.)

Netflix I know nothing about and some of the game boxes are with TV and computer hook up.

As for the $1.04..........disconnected may wind up costing U more. :-( They may want there equipment.
I have always paid ahead...I just did not give them $1.04 so they have a new policy >>> 60 days balance (in my case it was $1.04) and you get disconnected. The woman in the business office (I have dealt with for 17 years) agrees with me. The new policy sucks. I have paid through May now. I plan to go to Radio Shack. I know there is a way to watch tv stations by the computer and watch it on tv screen. Thanks anyways!
there were plenty of sites... but the gov shut a lot of them down in their crackdown on internet piracy... sad but understandable...

I called Verizon to discuss my bill and they took off another $5 from my internet charges then they told me of their triple play option..phone, dsl and Direct tv >>> all 3 for $79.99. I am having the cable tv shut off.
This is something I've been researching myself. Ultimately, you can watch just about any show you want on your computer. It takes some re-thinking on how you watch TV. For instance, you will not be able to just bring up a guide and scan through to see what's on right now. You have to say, I want to watch The Big Bang Theory and then go watch it.

Here are a couple of resources.

I built this antenna. Easy, less than a half hour to make. Works amazingly well.

There is a way to buy a relatively cheap cable thing that you can hook up to your PC and TV and then use the above i.e. Hulu , abc tv , etc. My roomate left me one, but I have not hooked it up yet. Check w/ Best Buy b4 they go out of biz or Radio Shack.
there are several out there... but most are in litigation taken by the cable companies... not sure if they will be able to hold up...
