They want my passport picture and my bank acct#.

This is too scary for me. The company is CMS-Certified Marketing Services. Is this normal? How do I know a company is not a scam?

There are too many "Certified" in this business! It seems to me that Certified Marketing Services was the old name for Certified Reports, which became the 'purple portal' of Market Force, though I could be wrong.

If you are uneasy, don't play. There are plenty of legitimate companies to work with.

That being said . . . every time you write a check you are handing out your bank account number and routing number in addition to your signature. Yet you are not responsible for unauthorized distributions from your account. In fact I suspect that handing out your bank account number is safer to you than handing out a PayPal or PayQuicker account information or depositing a check.

Passport photo? I would rather supply a photo than a copy of my driver's license, which some companies want.

So the question in my mind is did you find this company or did they find you? I just don't think that 'Certified Marketing Services' has been the name of a mystery shopping company in some time so I would wonder if you are on the first 'trust building' stage of a con or scam.
The real Certified asked for my photo when I first signed up, but they didn't say it was a passport photo. I can't remember whether they wanted a portrait rather than a snapshot but I think I gave them a portrait. I know I didn't give them my passport photo.
Sinclair also requires your photo. I gave them a head shop, not a passport photo. I believe I have done this for two MSC's.

Live consciously....
Photos asked for are only required if you want special high end jobs.
