It's the end of the year (or existance) and I still haven't...

Ok, so here we are mid-December and I am still 4 months behind on my recording keeping. I am so bad about it! I only work for 4 companies regularly but still. I have pay stubs laying around my living room, mileage route printouts gathering on my computer desk, and spreadsheets that only have the job/location/date/client/fee columns completed.

Maybe, I was waiting to see if I needed to because the world is ending soon. I don't know, but I really need to stop procrastinating and get it together for taxes, maybe I will do it after I am done Christmas shopping. winking smiley

Anyone else in my boat or am I sinking alone?

I'd suggest hiring a (smart) 12-15 y.o. who would be thrilled to organize your receipts, calendar, and mileage for you - for $10-12/hour. Kids are dying to make $$ this time of year.

Local high schools usually have job boards, try there if you don't have a teen to hire.
I'm only about 2 months behind but that's after I gave myself a stern talking to because I work retail and its the Christmas season and you can guess the rest. Any catching up now has to wait until January. If the end of the Mayan calendar provides no relief, maybe I can get a three-day snowstorm with no power loss.
I need to move to a place with 12 to 15 year olds who are dying to make money any time of the year. Around here none of them work at anything.

Secret Agent Mom, I am in the same situation. Hope to do better next year. LOL

Ok come on chill and have a nice holiday. Do you scan everything. ?? Just takes a minute and then you can bring up everything when you need it, no?
PS Wait until after the 21st other wise might be working for no reason. (:!!
I've got to add November and December to my spreadsheet and figured it would be slow between Christmas and New Year's. Or I'm dog/housesitting for a friend of mine in January for about 2 wks. Since she lives way the heck out of the way I'll need something to occupy my time besides TV. So figured i could catch up then.

New Year's Resolution? - Document at least weekly.

Trouble with me is that when I started last winter I was only intending to do grocery/restaurant shops which would really have required little or no documentation. But then I branched out and started going for compensation shops so that I would have some pin money to do stuff I couldn't on my retirement income.
I did so well last year at being organized but it sure has not happened this year. Guess it will have to wait until after Christmas now.

I am so far behind, it will take a week of no shopping to catch up. Once I get through this weekend, I am going to organize my house and my spreadsheet and try to get all the shops entered. Then I have to calculate mileage for the last few months. And organize my office. It is such a disaster now with file folders out and papers that need to be shredded stacked up, I am so embarrased to admit it and even more embarrased to have people over. My office is a part of my living room. I can't just close the door, as there isn't one...LOL

I'm behind too . I feel your pain. I log everything by quarter, but calculate mileage and the very end of the year before I do my taxes. I only shop part time, so I can't image how hard it would be for a full time shopper! Kuddos to you guys!
Did you get it done yet?

Sometimes I find that it seems like a bigger issue than it really is. Once you sit down and start, you might surprised how quick you finish.

As another poster mentioned, it does help to scan everything. I scan my receipts with my iPhone and email them to myself. I then save them to my downloads folder before uploading them in reports.

As I go through my spreadsheet it's easy to scan through the downloads folder by date and gather my expenses.

Also, most of the MSC's keep pretty good records online to help you catch up. Remember in Sassie logs you can sort by date by clicking the arrows at the top of the list.

Good luck! Let us know how it's going.

Ummm...no. I did start though and since you can't even file taxes until the end of this month, I'm not rushing. LOL. Such a procrastinator! Thanks for the tips, luckily most of the few MSCs I work for do keep online records, however, the main one I work for is Maritz and they have nothing easily accessed. I do keep great picture/receipt records so that is extremely helpful.

Thanks for asking...

My spreadsheets etc are always done as I go along. Receipts are tossed into a monthly folder and clipped by msc.

Much quicker to do it as you go along and enter reports then later on.

I think I read on one of the other threads that we could not efile until after Jan. 31. Is that true?
Yes that is true...new Congress has some delays in our taxes.
Wasn't that the old Congress? I thought the new brotherhood of thieves didn't get sworn in until after all the malarkey.

Probably, I read something about New Congress delaying somethings...could have transposed the articles. LOL. Either way, congress is delaying the filing season.
how will that person who needs to fix their car in that other thread get their money then?

I bet people can still go to HR Block and get the refund anticipation loans and do their taxes, the taxes just won't actually be filed until the end of the month. But that is my guess because I do my own taxes.
