Is anybody.......?

.............. watching the "ROOSEVELTS...An Intimate History"? It is a 7 part documentary miniseries weaved together about the individual lives of Theodore, Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelts. It is showing on PBS. Tonight is the fourth part. It kind of starts at 8 PM and continues to show all night. It is a 2 hour show. It just continues repeating.

It is a well told history lesson. It is very interesting. The history of the Roosevelts was gently covered in history class back in the day (and I assumed now, too). This doco-series deals more into the rise and fall of the Roosevelts. I am watching the series every night after writing my reports. Tonight series goes into the medical disability of FDR, but it covers all three people and their influence on society and American history.

sigh! I wish I had know when it started. I an intensely interested in the Roosevelts and their influence on the country. I may have to try to download and order it.
This series is so interesting, I wish history teachers (today) would require their student to watch this story and just make a report on it. This is American history. It tell of how the presidency was elected or decided. I am glad that it includes some personal elements, things most of us would not even know about.

AUSTINMOM: Check your TV "guide" for Saturday, Sept.20, and you might find the whole series being shown from 12 noon 'til the whole series is complete. and then again at 8 pm they show the series again. (Well in my area anyway.)smiling smiley

I remember visiting Hyde Park when I was a kid--beautiful! Have they discussed how Franklin's mother didn't cut his hair until he was 4 and dressed him like a girl? I remember seeing a photo of him with long, curly locks.

I'm "Sandi" in the Middle!
Today, PBS, finished airing the series. I remember a lot about Eleanor Roosevelt but the series show how she revolve above her child hood and young wife/woman insecurities. What a remarkable woman.smiling smiley I noticed also that PBS online is airing the series for a the next few days. I will watch the show, in again, in its entirety.

Next I am going to watch Henry Gates--->"Finding your roots", that starts Tuesday, 23rd.
I am on part 5. It is available on PBS online for a limited time. It's a terrific history lesson whether or not you are a fan of the Roosevelts (I am not and still am quite intrigued).
I have a friend who works for PBS as a educational teacher all across the country. You can get most DVD's at your library if you missed any of the shows. I just got Secrets of the Vatican, another good watch. I'm watching it tonight. I watched the Roosevelts this week.
the best series I saw as on the history channel. I
think it was called the men who built America.

Should be viewable online or elsewhere.

Very intersting and a great example of what exactly
is happening today to an extent...history repeats
itself...
