Time to save big money shopping

If you do not like walmart then discontinue reading.

Now through Feb 28, 2015 walmart is giving double the money
back if stores in your area have lower prices than them when
you have one of the free bluebird accounts from amex.

All you do is shop for everything you need in walmart.
Then if you have a smartphone, download the walmart
app and you will go to the savingscatcher option and enter
your receipt number. If you dont have a smartphone, go
to walmart.com/savingscatcher on your computer.

Then walmart will automtaically check what you bought
vs the prices of the competition in the area and you will
get the difference back, or if you reedem
it to a bluebird account you will get double.

So for instance, Walmart was selling a case of water recently
for 4.99, target had it for 2.99. So you buy it at walmart,
then you get 4 dollars back when redeeming to bluebird
account, making each case only 1 dollar.

If you like to use coupons this has big potential to make
you money on items as walmart said this will apply before
any coupons you use.

Actually I did this today just before you posted! I had $36 in savings catcher and they doubled it to $72 with the Bluebird card.
This is such useful information, techman! My DH merchandises for a company, inside a Walmart, and is always purchasing things, while he's there. Thank you so much! smiling smiley

(heart)

I intend to live forever. So far, so good.
Some of the stuff, SavingsCatcher doesn't catch, but I've found their Support Team to be great at fixing those. For example, some meat purchases, it didn't catch. My local Piggly Wiggly had Bone-In Ribeye Steaks for $5.99/lb, so I chose the most expensive option Walmart had, USDA grass-fed organic antibiotic free bone-in ribeye steaks ($14.98/lb)... I paid the $14.98/lb because I wanted double my savings back, but SavingsCatcher didn't catch it, so I called, they looked up my local Piggly Wiggly ad, and they fixed it.

It worked out to where my steaks were free, plus I made $3 per pound. I paid $14.98/lb but got back $17.98/lb

Make sure to check your receipts after SavingsCatcher has had at it, for anything that's missed.

I don't think that should of qualified BBird since they are not
like items...if it were the same type then yes, but in this case
it wasnt...

Walmart ad-matches meat, produce, and dairy, and also ad-matches store-brand with Walmart store-brand, so long as the sizes match.

They qualified because the Piggly Wiggly ad only specified "Bone-In Rib-Eye Steak- $5.99/lb." It didn't specify a type, so anything qualified so long as it was Bone-In Ribeye Steak.

The same ad had Ground Beef for $2.99/lb, 3 lbs or more, and did not specific leanness percentage, so anything qualified so long as it was ground beef and 3 lbs or more.

Thanks, Bird. So do you get the Bluebird card first, give them the number on it, or swipe it when you check out, or have an account that they deposit to? How does it work?
I applied online and it was mailed to me.

Once I got it, I just added cash to it right at Walmart's customer service. It's free to do that. I didn't want the card linked to any of my real accounts, so I went to my bank, pulled out cash, then went to Walmart and loaded it.

After that, you just use it like a normal debit card.

Walmart being awfully generous there by allowing it, I'd
expect them to clamp down on that meat issue soon.

sandra sue, bluebird is completely independent of the transaction. You
can pay for it however you like. Just need the account to have the
savings put into it after you enter your receipt number on your
smartphone or online then you can spend it at walmart later on.

They've been ad-matching meat prices since the outset of the ad-matching gimmick. Until the other stores' ads get more specific, there aren't any issues ad-matching ribeye steaks for ribeye steaks, or ground beef for ground beef.

I prefer ad-matching at Walmart vs. going to Piggy Wiggly because, while their pork is outstanding, my Piggly Wiggly's quality on beef is hit-or-miss.

I think walmart also doesnt care because if they have to
price match they squeeze their supplier for
the difference. The double back with bluebird my guess
is they are splitting that extra with amex.

Is the quality of Walmart's meats a regional thing? I just don't trust it. When I lived in Florida I tried to buy meat there once and I saw packs of GREEN, slimy beef. :shudder:

I looked again months later, just to see... yup. Green slime.

I have looked in the cases here in Oregon, and they look okay, but I'm too afraid to try it. I just can't trust it.

There are two types of people in this world: Those who can extrapolate from incomplete data.
It is not only regional but also varies greatly between stores in the same town. One here, their meat is gross, brown, and gets marked down even though it isn't worthy of being sold. (I wouldn't buy it!)

The other, their meat is fresh, they cut to order if you'd like, their produce selection is awesome, and overall they are on par with my local Harris Teeter, which is also amazing. This is the one I shop at.

The bluebird card is effectively a bank account. It does
everything a bank account does including allowing you
to write checks. But since regulators wouldnt let walmart
get a banking license directly they've had to go about it
in a roundabout way on the backend. Still fdic insured
so that's all that really matters.

Also, sign up online it's free. If you get the temp card instore
it's 5 dollars.

Hey, update on this week.

Purex laundry detergent is Buy One, Get Two Free at Walgreen's.

Walmart sells these for $2.97

Buy (3) @ $2.97 ea = $8.91

Submit for Savingscatcher.
$8.91- $5.99 (Walgreen's price) = $2.92
$2.92 doubled (Bluebird promo) = $5.84 back on $8.91 purchase.

Works out to $1.07 ea, if bought in sets of three.

I just activated my Bluebird card that I received in the mail. I have also started putting my Walmart receipts in Savings Catcher but so far nothing has turned up to be put on a card.
