Love to shop the "dollar" type stores and also love that a few years ago I bought a little bit of stock in some of them and it's coming right along. Here's a great dollar store story I want to share and this actually happened.
I'm long time friends with a local couple. The husband was seriously hurt in a tragic accident years back on the Interstate, which was under construction and not properly marked. An oncoming car's driver went to sleep and crossed the median and hit him head on. Driver and passengers in that car died and my friend was left critical. Consequently, he was represented by a law firm who sued the state, the construction company, and the estate of the driver who went to sleep.
After many years of litigation and lives of waiting poverty, my friend who was hurt and his wife as his caretaker were both awarded huge settlements which will support them for a lifetime. While waiting on the eventual arbritration, I commiserated with the wife and told her that someday this would be over and they would have no money problems.
Her comment, with a laugh, was "You bet, Mary. I can go to the dollar store and stay all day."
