Any other ice crunchers here?

I love chewing on slightly softened ice pieces. Like for a serious snack I will just munch on ice, I have for years. Twice in the past month or so I've had people act like it's the oddest thing they've ever heard of.

I know there have to more of us that crunch ice.

Not me, but I certainly wish I would. It's lower calories than most snacks I eat. :-)

That's how I see it. If I wasn't eating the ice, I would be eating something else.
I munch ice all the time. I live right down the street from a hospital and the cafeteria has the perfect ice machine. Just the right size chunks to munch. I will usually go for an evening walk, pass through their cafeteria with my very large cup, fill it and munch it all the way home.
My dentist thought extreme temperature changes contribute to teeth cracking. One front tooth got chipped, although I don't remember the cause. The other one had some cracks in it, so I had crowns put on both of them.

Maybe my teeth are exceptionally weak. I had part of a molar break when I was chewing gum, and part of another molar break when I was eating a hamburger.
Ice crunching is not good for teeth. It is low calorie, though. :-)

I would love to munch ice (0 calories), but due to the expense of re-doing my front caps....no thanks...I do however, suck on ice.

I'm pleased to share my recommendations of FF establishments that have excellent ice for crunchingsmiling smiley Sonic, McDonald's and Bojangles.

My favorite ice to munch is from gas stations that have two ice choices in their fountain drinks one of those being crushed. The crushed ice at Pilot and Family Express is perfecet for eating.
For the ice crunchers, you might want to have your blood check. You may have a Iron defeicency. Only saying.........

You might want to also post your post on a dental forum, where the participants are dental students, doctors and dentists.
I was busted by my dentist a few years ago. Now my niece is training to be a dental assistant and busts me all the time. I took her to the hospital cafeteria whare I now get my ice crunching fix and made her try it. Now she is hooked. Small little pieces, enough to crunch and almost disolve with one bite. LOVE IT. - Oh and my iron is fine - just had it checked again. Was borderline anemic a few years ago but doing well now.

There's an entire forum just for this:

[icechewing.iswhaticrave.com]

I have always heard chewing ice was a sign of sexual frustration. It's a theory that is given some merit on the message boards.

Great yet another reason for my husband to snicker.

Hmmm just what is it that you're trying to say here?? haha
Steve, I so forgot about that theory, but in HS, that is what us girls used to tell each other when we caught each other chomping ice. :-)

Steve...did you find that link after these postings or have you always known about it....I have no iron problem, the other well I'll leave while I'm ahead.

I've always heard that but Googled it to see if it had merit.

I think there are some personality traits shared by MSers that also contribute to this.....
Sounds like a little Pica going on...Hey but atleast you are chewing ice and not dirt or hair...
