Not sure... there was an audio version of a book that sometimes sounded like a real voice and at other times sounded like computer generated noise. Was it even a real book?

Our Missing Hearts. Is it...
Warning? Activism? Retelling? (There are earlier tales of other separated people in other times and at other places. Somehow the world has survived.) It is definitely intetesting and i am cheering for Bird as he wends his way through muddle school life (which is often its own sort of horror regardless of any other factor).

Jaco Pastorius - Live in New York Vol. 2: Trio

Inarguably the greatest electric bassist of all time. He did for his instrument what Jimi Hendrix did for electric guitar: indelibly changed it forever.

If you are not familiar with him, check out his version of the jazz standard "Donna Lee", and his composition "Teen Town" performed with Weather Report.

There's also a great documentary (he was a totally tortured artist), produced by Metallica's Robert Trujillo.

Have synthesizers, will travel...
When I was a kid, I bought a lot of music at Peaches Records & Tapes in Fort Lauderdale, FLA.
I think that store was on East Sunrise Blvd.
Anyway, we'd spot Jaco in there flipping through the stacks. He was meteoric.
I just re-purchased Queen II and A Day at the Races. We drove all over AL today listening to Queen VERY loudly.. I've been a David Bowie fan since I was a teenager, but I just purchased my first Bowie album last month, Alladin Sane. There are a couple more I'll get, probably next month, my cousin also wants me to renew my ancestry account because he wants some pics from my family tree that I don't have here at home, so that might be more important.

Ah, the word "album." It was a word in my youth too. Songs are now purchased singularly, or better yet, listened to via streaming. When you say "album" it makes the youth scream, "BOOMER!" Although there is a small segment of the Gen Z who have discovered playing vinyl albums on turntables and the warmth of the sound.

BTW, did you know you can very easily extract songs from the internet with downloadable tools and create your own play lists? There are video downloaders too.
scream whatever you want mav, I AM a BOOMER.. I'll NEVER listen to streamed music, I will always listen to music albums whenever possible. I still have all of my vinyl albums from when I was a teenager, though I haven't owned a turntable in many years, I won't sell my vinyl albums either.

I'm sure you have some kind durogatory label to afix to my stubbornness, but honestly, I don't care. You're a mean spirited person, and I don't enjoy your input (said as kindly as I can to avoid getting scolded by the moderators).

I am keeping my old-school stuff, too. It took a long time to acquire it, and I sense that AI or some other manipulation will destroy other copies of and future possibilities for my beloveds. Then, there will be gaps, a dearth, or some other ghastly outcome.

Hey, I am not screaming boomer. Not me. I might just be a boomer myself. Or I could be a Gen Z person. I'm not saying. I have albums, CDs, a turntable, a vintage stereo, and digital audio such as MP3's.

I'm just denoting what has changed as time has passed. No one is labeling you. If, in your mind, you believe I am, block me. I'm just sharing observations. It's called having a viewpoint.

@Shop-et-al

I'm keeping "vintage" audio equipment and recordings also. Too bad that the follow-on generations won't realize it's value until after they discard it.

Side note: My receiver is worth more now than when I initially purchased it. How often does that happen in electronics? Almost never.

Back to the subject at hand...I'm listening to...

a Morgan Housel podcast, "Investing: The Greatest Show on Earth"

I find he has short, insightful and interesting viewpoints.

What streaming services do you all use for music, also, if you don't mind including the cost?
what devices do you listen to them on?

for me, for now, I just listen to music on YouTube using my phone....but I am seeking alternatives mostly for wearing/carrying during exercise.
Oh wait, I also listen to music in my car - on the radio and on CDs! my musician friends send me their music CDs to review.
By the way, it's an amazing sound quality I can get from a phone, but we know it's not really a phone, at least not in the traditional sense of the word - rather, it's a communication device.

My fiancee and I share Premium Duo on Spotify. I want to say it's around $17 per month before tax. We both have our tastes and preferences. I've been using it for many years. It seamlessly switches been multiple computers and smartphones (personal/work). I'm not familiar with other services, but I don't like ads smiling smiley

Some eclectic albums have been removed from Spotify over the years, and I'll go seek the ones I like and listen to a lot.

CDs and vinyl, my siblings and parents had a collection. For myself, it's been a long time since I've used a CD player smiling smiley
