A potential MS receipt validation issue?

I see mystery shopping receipt validation as a potential problem. I know the tools to pull this off.

Don't do it!

Love this from the comment section:
"What?! Where do you get this idea?
I got it from watching President Biden and the DNC."

This actually wouldn't work here because the client would most likely go back to check for that transaction. Not to mention many shops that require receipts also require some sort of pics that's related to the transaction itself anyways

This kind of method is more common when it comes to reimbursement for business trips for private companies. And you don't really need AI for that...Just an old receipt and Photoshop, and you can get that done

Check for transaction?

Maybe. But I've had too many shops approved within 1/2hr or less. So I'm still sticking with it's definitely possible.

There's also the warning that the staff may verify via cameras. I just don't believe it's common.

Both require effort. We all know people generally like to avoid effort. Hence the 1 in 8 on food support.

I think you are forgetting one thing. Being approved by MSC does not necessary mean it is a done deal. geting approved only means that the report meets all critiria from MSC end based on the guideline provided, and it will be submitted to client for review. There's still a chance for client to reject the report at a later time if the client sees an issue. How does a client check the report I do not know, I also don't know if they will actually check every single report's transaction or just certain ones, but it isn't hard for them to do. Just enter one code, and they should be able to find that transaction ID from their database.

I'm in full agreement with your reply... except the I believe the capture rate for fakes is extremely low.
They would be more inclined to do their due diligence in checking the details when it comes to a submitted report related to the MS program.
The only thing new is that they used AI instead of Photoshop. This is far from a novel concept.

It only takes getting caught once to destroy your reputation, though. You would be blacklisted and cut off from multiple companies as they surely would discuss. Why risk it?
Expense processing software is now including fraud detection for things like this.

This is just one example of a product I saw recently: [www.concur.com]

Yes, that's how it was discovered... business expenses.

Haven't heard of it used in the niche MS shops.
