A stove!!

I FINALLY got a stove. It's not new, but it was cheap and the oven works!!!!! It also has cast iron grates and griddle in the center with a oblong burner for the griddle. It needs a new propane orifice because the gentleman that we bought it from thought he needed to drill it out to make the flame bigger, it worked..but he said turning it on was an adventure.. That's ok, I have a stove just like that one, without the center griddle burner, that has the exact same orifice.

Over the next week or two we'll change the jets, and get it installed in the kitchen, in between shopping, busy time of the year here. I should be able to bake some bread before Christmas, if I'm lucky. I think my son tossed out my sourdough starter, so I'll have to start some more. And I need to check the flour, I've seen some bugs that resemble weevils, so I may need to buy a new bag of flour, we shall see. I'm also going to have to call the propane folks and get the tank filled, the old stove leaked a little and we haven't had it filled in about 4 years, so there isn't much gas left.

Yeah! glad to hear it~ don't forget to come back and let us know what goodies you've made in that oven.

Life was passing like a hand waving from a train I wanted to be on
It's funny you mentioned this. When I saw your heading, it caught my attention because I just purchased a new stove as well. Two days before Thanksgiving, my heating element went out in the oven area. I purchased a new one, and they delivered it the same day, because I had to start cooking. My old one still is on the new side, but I am about to trash it because I don't need two stoves now.

I am glad you got something you like.

Shopping Arkansas, Louisiana, & Mississippi.
I'm glad you got a stove. All our appliances are at an age that we could well be replacing things in succession.
Or not. It's hard to predict.

I'll tell ya what.. If there is a way to make something take far longer than it needs to, my son will find it. I now have 2 stoves in the yard by where I park my car, and none in my kitchen. Grumble, grumble, piss, moan..
The good news is that the stove is IN the house, hooked up, and working!!! pot of water on the stove during the day, roasting something in the oven for dinner. Pizza two nights.. because they were on sale at Kroger.. lol And a frozen apple pie that had exactly 2 pieces of apple in apple jelly that I bought on sale. I'm going to have to buy some apples and make a homemade apple pie.

The bad news is that I have to be here tomorrow for them to deliver propane, so I'm going to have to get help rescheduling my grocery shops.
I guess they want you there to witness the delivery and sign off that they didn't wreck anything? Sounds like a bit of a hassle. Will you be able to get scheduled deliveries moving forward or will it always be a "call when it runs out" situation?
Dee, in the 10 years I've been here it has always been a call when you need a refill proposition, and I don't believe they are shopped. That would be good if I could get my propane paid for, even partially, but that isn't the actually case. This is the first time that I didn't get the tank filled, just got the minimum amount that they'll deliver.

I had to be home to pay for the gas. They won't deliver it if I'm not here to write the check to give to the driver. I now have 125 gallons of freshly delivered propane, and apparently there was still 25 gallons still in the tank, even though my son has been gaslighting me and telling me we don't have enough to do any serious cooking.
