Has anyone worked for SEC before? They have an offer that seems too good to be true. I am wondering if this is for real or not. Anyone ever get paid by them?

I haven't worked for them for awhile but I check their board regularly. I used to do a few regular shops for them. They have been around a long time, they do pay, and I probably got the same email you are talking about.

I just signed up for one of their jobs. I am old enough to meet the demographic criteria. LOL
They were always great...haven't done anything for them in a while but never an issue!
I have done several shops for them in the last 6 months. The scheduler was great, pay was in decent timing, and the jobs paid a higher rate than most others I come across. I have done more than 2 dozen shops at an airport for a credit card company. I was hesitant at first and questioned everything to make certain I would never truly be applying for a card as I did not want one and did not want my credit checked. Typically, if you accept one of these shops, you get to the airport and the contact person informs you that you have 3-4 agents to shop. If anything goes wrong in their system, that could potentialle mean you could have 4 credit inquires on your credit report. I never had a an issue with this happening as the three levels of assurance (incorrect SSN#, mother's maiden name, and phone number) always worked UNTIL THE LAST TIME I SHOPPED. I received a credit card in the mail as well as a bill for the $59 activation fee. I e-mailed the scheduler for SEC and she contacted the client. The client told her it would take 6-8 weeks to investigate. She suggested I cancel the card immediately (duh). I was furious that I got a credit card with over $12,000 limit based on completely false information. I spent HOURS unraveling this mess with the credit card company and did cancel the card, but it was a huge headache. I don't know if it was the credit card company, the marketing firm that SEC represents, or SEC that caused the mistake, but I really don't care at this point. I do not believe it was SEC but more likely the marketing firm that did not remove the application based on the 3 triggers of incorrect information. Either way, never doing that again and would advise anyone to be extremely cautious.

I have a shop for SEC scheduled for today. It seems like their office has been badly hit by Hurricane Sandy. The following is posted on their log in page:

"SEC BA/Client/User Gallery - Temporarily Unavailable

Due to northeastern weather conditions, SEC will be shutting down their data center operations on Monday morning, 10/29/2012.

In the event the projected outage lasts beyond 10/31, we will adjust dates accordingly.

This will affect your ability to access our website. If you have questions, please send an email as an alternative to calling as that will tie up NY phone lines."

I sent an email to their help desk and tried calling just now, but their number is out of service. Since I can't log in, I can't enter the shop, so I'm thinking I should just not do it. Any thoughts?

I have been doing shops for them since 2011 - maybe $4K worth - NEVER had a problem with getting paid - ever - payments land between the 20th and 25th of the month, no muss no fuss no BS

last 6 months or so scheduling has been spotty, they have had IT problems a 5th grade business exploration class would be ashamed of, but they have a lot of work in my area and the pay is decent
