Helion: So Far, So Good...

Just a quick note to all, as promised Helion paid me in full as they said they would on the payday that they indicated. After reading everybody's post with all the concerns about Helion I was starting to have doubts. Anyway, I know I feel better and hope that this helps to set your minds somewhat at ease.

I'm still waiting to find out if my shop has been accepted and will be paid. Haven't heard anything since I sent an e-mail explaining my interaction with the associate that did not meet their requirements. I did my best to get the guy to do what he needed to do but he didn't have the knowledge or desire to do so.

Jane,

are you in Europe or USA ?
If you're in USA how was the exchange rate handled? Fees?

thanks
I know, I know, please forgive me for my lack of forum etiquette. No excuses here, but I am sincerely new at this and this is the first forum I have joined. I promise to read the guidelines soon so as not to come across as a rookie and embarrass myself any further.

cubbiecat: I have completed 4 shops for Helion. The two that I have been paid for were done on April 24 and 25.

shoppinalong: I am in the USA. I was paid through Paypal and there we no fees charged.

@janebond007, Thanks. My shop was in May, so I probably will be paid in another 2 weeks.

I'm still waiting to be paid and for my shop history to be updated. I completed one of the computer shops for them and received a 60% for my grammar. There was only one field that needed to be typed for that form, so it makes me wonder how absolutely horrific they found my grammar to give me a scarcely passing grade. One comma splice? It gave me a nice laugh, though. Hopefully this won't affect future jobs.

Did others get the email today about the accompanied visits shops? Appears its the same shop as before but with the client? I don't understand exactly what they want or how that would work. Pay and timing is negotiable. Just wondered what others thought.

They want someone to go with on shops to observe your actions....
No thanks. And watch the pay..... it is in Euros converted on the pay date so if they say for instance $20 pay (for instance only) that could go up or down on the pay day according to the world market money. And if you follow the Euro is NOT going up. SO $20 is NOT $20.

Actually the amount they list to is the amount they actually pay (in American money) unless last time the conversion rate stayed the same for the whole 6 weeks of the project so that wouldn't worry me but I still don't understand where they are getting these clients and how many of these shops they want. It seems different to say the least.

No it changes. The market is variable so it went down. And if they post $20 US it still changes. Check your last check and the email of the amount promised.
It IS different. And not my pennies.

Ok I don't want to argue about the money - I was ok with it - and for me that is what counts, I am just interested in what this new project is.

Liz
If a job promises $20 then that is what I expect.
$20.
If you like variable pay rates go for it.
Personally I want what is promised.

And if you wanted to be followed in person by a shopping company go for it.
You can have my spot. No thanks.

Looking back the US amount I was promised for the April shops I accepted is the US amount I received in May for those shops so I am still all good.
Ok and I want to know about the shop before I make any decisions.

I'm with Canadamommy. I got a notice that my payment was put through and it was one half of the stated fee. No explanation. Furthermore, the shop was not scored so I don't know if it was because of problems I encountered during the shop because of the lack of ability to meet criteria by the person I dealt with or something else. The form did not offer the flexibility to accommodate non-performance of certain items and offered no place for a narrative explanation. Communication was mediocre at best. If the decrease was due to exchange rates, then state that in the e-mail stating payment is going to be made. Also, it should be stated upfront that payment may vary due to exchange rates (they should honor the fee stated even if it costs them more money due to exchange rates). I won't be accepting anything from them again. I don't do business with people who short change me.
This is all interesting and not in a good way. The exchange rate doesn't cut it. A fee is agreed upon at the time of accepting an assignment and any differences in the exchange rate should be their cost of doing business, end of story. For a long time I worked for a clothing manufacturer and was responsible for wiring payments to our overseas vendors. We paid them what we contracted to pay them whether it was in Euros, Yen or pounds Sterling. Any exchange rate differences were on us. Some times it was to our benefit, sometimes not.

So glad I followed my insticts about them.....I knew something was not up to par...I de-activated myself before I started, mainly because of their hidden age requirement, after going through their signing processs, I wasn't allowed to do job, heck, they could have told me about it before. I didn't know about the money thing, major ripoff (in my eyes), red flags abound.

I agree that agreed upon amount is just that and that is what I got. I also agree that the form did not have a place for narrative yet they asked for more narrative in their evaluation of the survey after the fact. That said I still am wondering about the new shop. I imagine when they wake up they will be along to comment.

I was heavily solicated to do a mobil client they had in CA. (1st and only job here). I signed to do it, didn't get it with no explanation. Finally I felt my time was being wasted, and wrote to scheduler that solicated me, and was told age limit (I believe) was 55. My application says my age, so, why send me jobs....you know I'm not going to get. I see the spokesperson for them left this forum in a huff. Listen to your gut.

And you are OK with a different amount of money received than promised voetjrs? You go for it.
Have not been to their site for a while. Do they indicate USD or not. Most international companies do.
cynb -- When I was assigned the one shop, they showed the fee in USD. They paid me less than half of what they said with absolutely no explanation. So, does it really matter what denomination they show if they don't pay what they promised? I think not.
As of today $20 is 16.25 Euros.

Half would be an awful big drop and doesn't sound like it is solely based on the exchange rate. Could they have passed along all the PayPal fees? There would be a 2.5% currency conversion fee among other things. All that would certainly add up quickly.

Regardless, every company should make things crystal clear, PayPal fees, deductions, etc. A shopper should well-informed prior to taking an assignment and never left wondering what happened to their money after.

Lisa -- I don't remember any indication that PayPal took the fee out of my account or even the exchange rate fee. There were issues with the shop because the person I dealt with at the store knew nothing about the item that was the subject of the shop. It was very difficult discussing the situation with this company to try to find out how to handle the situation since there was very little flexibility on their form and no obvious place to explain the situation in the narrative. Between being short changed without explanation and the extreme difficulty with communicating with them, they're not worth the bother.
Just got a "Please come back" email, saying I haven't logged in for awhile.
Please return as there are jobs available, so I login to find one job in Europe at an airport of which I have never heard of the country. I wrote and asked them about the eros payment, and their money rate, U.S. are paid accordingly, which can be lower than our agreegement for pay. I also told him not send out emails stating they have airport or any jobs when they are not within my raduis of 30 miles. I de-activated myself, what a waste of time company. I do work for two European MSC's, one in Paris and one Swedish, the pay is paid according to agreegement, just a beware to new shoppers.

I did two jobs from Helion, just to see how they were. They audited my computer jobs, and gave me 100% for a grade, and paid just like they said they would thru paypal with no fees. I give them an A.
