Impressed ....

....By About Face. Did my first shop for them yesterday (don't usually shop Sundays, but needed to go to this store anyway). Was supposed to view a demo - which was nowhere to be found. Took my requisite photos and browsed the required length of time. Filled out my report (pretty easy to check N/A on everything!!). Frankly expected to be questioned, but got the nicest email in less than 2 hours saying it was approved and "thank you.....". Yes I'm sure it was a form letter, but wow!

I had a similar situation happen to me yesterday with About Face. I had to go to an electronics store and evaluate the cable representative. Problem was, the cable rep was not there and according to a sales associate, had not been there all weekend. I took an exterior photo of the store, and scanned 2 cable brochures to prove I was there, but so far I haven't heard back from msc. I hope I get paid...it's not my fault the rep wasn't there.
That's great to hear Jlyn & Phoebe -

AF is a very nice MSC to work with. I've always had great luck contacting schedulers and receiving replies. Plus, they pay like clockwork and I've never had a problem with them.

It's always good to hear positive things on the Forums about MSC's.

AF is fine IF the location is open.
Zero for closed.

Are you saying the demo person was no where to be found or the entire demo was not there?

Did you ask up front in case he/she was on break?

Just curious, I do alot of demos besides Mystery Shops....

I am pretty sure I was audited by a few shoppers in the last few months. The idea is, "always treat every customer as if they were a mystery shopper/auditor" That's my philosophy."smiling smiley
SunnyDays - the entire demo was not there....I was required to stay in the store for 40 minutes (which I did). I didn't feel right asking about a demo (figured that would flag me for sure),but I did go to the customer service desk and ask the one who was apparently in charge "do you sell 'product x' "...assuming she would mention a demo if there was one scheduled....
I suspect it just got canceled.
Next time go to the service desk and have them look in the vendor sign in book for a demo person. The store will not think weird at all.
this was not a Sam's type store, btw. It was a demo for a high-end home product at a store I frequent, and I've never even seen a demo there of any type. I really do think the manager would have found the question strange. But please correct me if I'm wrong smiling smiley I don't pretend to have this all figured out. I followed the directions, including what to do if the display was not set up, to a 'T'.

I also just want to clarify that I wasn't trying to "get off easy"- in fact, I was rather looking forward to this demo and spent longer in the store than I would have had the demo taken place. My initial post wasn't really about the shop, but instead was just to say something positive about the MSC (but I can see how it may have read like I rushed). I like to share good as well as bad experiences.

I did an About Face shop last year for a tree service call. It was very informative. The survey was easy and payment arrived on time. I'm hoping to do more shops for them in the future. They don't have many in my area.
Phoebe: You should get paid. I do demos and Medicare shops and part of the reason they have these shopped is to verify that the folks are there when they are supposed to be, so you did your job.
