RSG Contact?

Does anyone have a good contact at RSG? Trying to get a couple of shops approved since today is the due date but haven't received an approval yet. Thanks.

Did you receive a letter from RSG ?

Seems some shoppers are falsifying the electronic shops

using old photos or previous photos or photos from online or magazines - so now they are checking to see

We've had this discussion before from a shopper who caught her stepdaughter falsifying reports and had the courage to report her.

Anybody falsifying reports hurts all shoppers because now everybody will have to upload photos with date and time taken .

My understanding is that they're going through all these electronic reports so
those who submitted fraudulent reports on the electronic shops probably won't be paid and will be removed as a shopper.
There was a mass letter sent out that I saw but it does not apply to me. Either way the shop is due today so I hope to know soon.

I got the letter - I assumed everyone did. I think one thing that is funny is that I park at the exact same spot at this never busy electronic retailer in a nearby town and I have three pictures on my computer that I have taken from the front that are exactly the same. I did the shops. I like them ok...learned some new stuff.

Me too. Ilearned things about a lot of the new cameras.

I saw a digital camera that I'd like to buy if I ever started doing video.

It's small and allows an hour of video as well as regular digital photo.
Hmm, I didn't get this letter and I don't remember having to take a picture of the location that I shopped.

Well it was actually an email - and you didn't have to take a picture, you could use a business card or some other type of proof of being there...brochure, etc.

Liz
I'm disappointed that anyone would try to take advantage of RSG in any way since they have been fair with me. I would go the business card route first but for some companies I get the business card and a picture of the exterior.
shoppingalong,
Glad to hear that you are considering video shopping, BUT......Do not even think of purchasing the sort of video camera that is sold in regular camera shops. There are very specific video and audio quality standards that come with video shops, and the only equipment currently being recognized at meeting the client standards is the PV-500 lite plus an upgrade from the camera/mic that comes with that.

When you are ready to try video shopping, I always suggest that you first work with the set-up loaned by one of the v-shopping companies, such as EPMS, Instant Replays, Clear Evaluations, etc. You can find a list of the "big seven" companies at [www.videoshoppingnetwork.org] VSN also has a section on standards for video equipment and updates on what equipment is currently up to the standards.
Before you invest north of $300 for the basic rig, make certain that you really want to do this sort of work. It is very, very different from the short interations found in traditional shops. You ill be expected to develop some elaborate scenarios using aliases, many different follow-up phone numbers and email addresses, and keep careful records of what names and follow-up info you used for each shop, so that you do not get gaught the next time you do one of the many sites for that client (Almost all now link their data bases across sites by name, phone nuber and email address, hence the need to keep chaning thise that you use.) Interactions with one person may run from 30 minutes to well over 2 hours. (Obviously, the rig you saw would not work for those longer, better paid, shops.)

Based in MD, near DC
Shopping from the Carolinas to New York
Have video cam; will travel

Poor customer service? Don't get mad; get video.
To add to that, a digital camera shooting video wouldn't work because it is not covert.

That might work at a electronic store but not a furniture store!

They can at times take time scheduling, I wanted a job for Sunday as I was doing a mini run in the city, and got approved Sunday morning, it was pending 5 days, but other than that, they are top class on every level.

@ Walesmaven,

Very kind of you to offer some help and advice on this.

I used to do undercover taping in another state, but the state I'm in now, it would be illegal.

Are there any video shops that are not undercover ? besides weddings and bar mitzvas grinning smiley

Shoppin
I haven't heard of any yet, but video shopping is still the new kid on the block. There seem to be more industries coming on board all the time. For a long time the only shops seemed to be new cars, new homes and apartments. I've now added fast food and various retail assignments along with medical and dental shops. The medical and dental were possible reveals at the very end, but up to that point had to be covert.

Equal rights for others does not mean fewer rights for you. It's not pie.

Thanks Lisa

I dont see why shops of audits , for instance, cell phone revealwed audits couldn't be done by video.

As a matter of fact, how about the gas shop audits? - no reason that all those revealed audits should be covert.

Otherwise, I guess my video ms career is caput before it starts. Has to be revealed here.
Do you mean the brief mystery shop at the beginning of a gas audit? That is one place I would not want to use video. We have to wear shirts converted for the cameras. Mine are all black and would not be comfortable in the heat, lol! It also could not take the place of the required photos because the video does not have the same clarity of a good photograph.

@ Lisa

"could not take the place of the required photos because the video does not have the same clarity of a good photograph"

That's a surprise.
