Looking for more Shop companies! Refer me!

I am one that has gotten lots of help from this forum! As stated above once you establish yourself by giving as well as asking then everyone is available to offer help. Also as stated above just because a MSC shops one area does not mean they shop your area. Several here have tried to help me out by PM and when I signed up with the company I was disappointed that they did not have anything in my area. I have learned there really is no easy way. I do still ask for assistance sometime and I keep my fingers crossed! Anyway all of that said, have you tried to use the search function here and check "all dates". Most of what you asked has been discussed at one time or another. Now a bit of advice. Ask nicely and drop the attitude even if you get responses you don't like. Some of the newer people here are like cats. They get their backs up when they sence attitude and then you get it back. Those that have been here for a long time are very willing to help but usually sit back awhile to give the newer posters a chance to respond before they jump in. If you keep it nice and hang in there more times than not you will get a helpful response. Try the search function and good luck.

I have another post on a different note. This is an educational thread. I have learned a new term "snarky" and I loved the quote about pile of something and cup of something, I will have to look that one back up to use next time I get into it with my daughter-in-law. And I never thought about looking for healthy eathing shops because they are more rare than FF. I will have to look into that. The sad thing is we are so used to the big chain places I am not even sure if we have healthy around me. Wow! all that I have learned and I am only through the first page. So going to get my note pad and cup of coffee and finish reading the rest of it. Okay now gotta run get something to eat! Reading this thread has made me hungry!!

Those who ask others to do their work for them and then get pissy when the results are not forthcoming don't have attitudes; they suffer from a lifetime of being told that they are Mommy's special uniqe perfect lil sunshine and that it doesn't matter what they do, the world will come to their rescue. They have been damaged since childhood by that kind of approach and are unable to change, even if they seek to.
it's called a false sense of entitlement and unfortunately many people have that these days and for just the reason you stated.

jentodd - I agree I ought to be a nicer person than I am, and by that I mean I need to not get edgy because I see a little attitude here and there. It wouldn't hurt me (a lot) to overlook it once or twice in the case of any individual poster and make more of an effort to be helpful instead of retaliatory.

I would like to see a larger pool of posters, and my past behavior won't make that happen. If I continue to act as I have in the past, snarking and snapping at everyone who irritates me, the pool of posters might get smaller and smaller rather than larger. Most posters who come on the forum and get snippy, for whatever their reasons may be, just fade away and I think it's because they are subjected to caustic and unkind posts such as the ones I make when I bite back.

The new poster may not be able to initially accept the plain spoken way I communicate. I should back off a bit before I jump on them to knock off the edges I don't like. I'm going to try to give the new ones a chance and refrain from starting a war when hello would be more logical.

Thank you for your post. Great food for thought.

It starts so early - in kindergarten when every one gets a trophy, no one "loses" at childhood sports, star players are benched to keep other teammates from felling bad, God help their self esteem

we are spawning a society where "I tried my best" is not just an indication of good character and perseverance (sp?) it becomes a reason to look for praise and later in life, financial reward. Kids are not being taught that effort does not bring home the bacon, results do; taught that being inclusive and diverse (both necessary, excellent concepts) can replace putting together an effective team.

When my Dad gave me a task, and I messed it up, I could go to him and say "Dad, I failed, show me how to do it better, do it right" and I got an education. Going to him with a list of excuses, blaming others, saying "it wasn't my fault" got me punished. We are raising an entire nation of people that think that a good excuse is as good as a good result. Hell, it was all George Bush's fault, wasn't it? smiling smiley Yes even POTUS is cursed with the "trying is the same as doing" affliction, amongst many others.
Well, this is getting deep. The OP came on here trying to figure out who shops what, and we've turned it into a full blown critique on character, ethics, work habits, child rearing, and politics. Are we overboard here? I plead guilty, and suggest maybe it's time to lighten up. When all is said and done, everything will be said and nothing will be done. Remember, every cloud has a sunny lining.

OMG, I didn't even read all these post and I am starting to laugh at the turn of the conversation. I am not on all the time. I don't shop on a consistent basis, but I definitely do have specific type of jobs I like to do. I don't do FF jobs anymore, because of how much weight I gained. I finally lost about 55lbs and am not about to put it back on.

(I am original NY (from Long Island) so I would be a prime candidate for the @#$%& club. We tend to use bitchy and snotty more than the word snarky, but most definitely would love to join. We have that no nonesense, don't....ummm.....F.mess with me attitude.)

The posts tend to be more enlightening for me than anything, since some stuff I am not as aware of. Since, someone already posted it, I am a big fan of Volition and another one, which I am not sure I can post or not. I however, do agree, I have done a lot of the research and signed up for many companies, and have found the ones I liked. I have helped my dad get into it, and told him of the companies I chose to stick with and which were good to sign up for and where to go to sign up for others, but let him make the choice, but that was my dad.

Anyway, thanks for the laughs and sarcasm.

Has anyone figured this out? If someone can read enough English to respond to a post, why won't they respond in English?

Equal rights for others does not mean fewer rights for you. It's not pie.

I'm guessing he is using an auto-translator. But I can't figure out why he is not translating his post. I think he surely should have been able to figure out by now that very few forum members understand his posts and he will get few responses.
I get pm's several times a week asking for who does this or who does that and can i give them shops, routes, phone numbers, names etc. Most I don't bother responding. Others with legitimate questions and concerns I respond to and help where I can.

I do watch the forums and when schedulers ask me or I see new projects come up I will pm some shoppers based on their actions in this forum and what region they shop to see if they want to pickup shops/routes.

If you post negative constantly on here dont expect a pm from me though.

Edel said good morning to us and that she has done 6 shops. She agrees that there is a lot to learn from the forum. She wants to do 5 shops daily but not getting many assignments.

Karen Il asked where edel lives and to continue signing up with MSCs.

Oh no! I just had roasted garlic and jalapeno and I am having a huge heartburn.
IIRC, edel said he/she was from Puerto Rico. I can usually understand 80-90% of his/her posts but I will probably ignore edel's posts from now on because several people have asked why he/she posts in Spanish and he/she, AFAIK, has never responded.

I am multilingual and love it when people know, or at least try to understand, more than one language. However, I don't think it is right that a person who apparently understands English chooses to communicate only in Spanish when most of the posters/readers on this forum apparently understand English but not Spanish.

Hi everyone! I haven't posted for awhile as I have been traveling, and then spent 3 months in Orange county California shopping that area and visiting with a long time friend. An opportunity came up for me to buy some beautiful land in the Northern California Mountains, and so to realize a lifetime dream!
Needless to say, I have stopped my traveling and will now only do "local" shops and some shops occassionally in nearly (nearby translates into about 100 miles!). I am doing the really pioneer thing. I am building my own house and hope to have it finished enough to spend the winter here.
It is not unusual to get snowed in for 2 to 3 months so one big goal is to have enough canned goods to last that long, so I won't starve while waiting to be able to go the 23 miles to town again.
Soooo, anyone who likes to do the post office shops and wants to donate one or more canned goods to a fellow shopper, I am including my mailing address (don't worry, the mailing address gives no one any idea where I actually am in the mountain s )

The address is HC4 Box43036 , Alturas, CA 96101. Name is for "Pioneer Patti". All donations will be gratefully accepted and any canned goods will do (you will eat just about anything if you are hungry enough!) Many canned goods will meet the weigh requirements of these shops. I never did any of these shops, because I never knew anyone to send anything too! I am not a tax deduction, but it is I hope a good way to do the shops! If you decide you would like to send something, and want to know more about my story and what I am doing and even get pics, let me know when you send one or more canned good and I will be happy to share with you! (Hint: I am building my house out of pallets!)
Wow. Only canned goods? Meaning do you not have anyway to cook?
