Florida shopping

Please communicate if you're shopping Florida. I live on the ocean in mid Florida. I am wondering if there are any MSC's I may be missing that are good for our state.

I frequent SI, CORI, Beyond Hello, Second to None, Service Sleuth and Intellishop. Are there any good companies I am missing?

Please advise.

Florida is one of the most competitive states, especially "mid" Florida for shoppers.

That's nice to know. I have a lot of competition then. Do you shop Florida?

Am I missing any good MSC's?

Florida is like every other state...you just have to sign up with every company out there and wait to see what they reel in month after month. I have a condo in Central FL and often shop while I am there and I shop for all sorts of different MSCs...just depends what project is going on where and when I am there.

Sign up for MSC that are based in Florida. All companies will 'say' they are nationwide (or global) but the reality is that it is easiest and most frequent to sell mystery shopping locally. Thus a company based in your area will often have more shops than one located on the other side of the country or world.

I don't live in Florida - but off the top of my head, I know Shopper's Critique is based in Central Florida, so I would sign up with them. If you are only shopping with the six you mentioned, you are missing quite a few possibilities. Good is subjective though...

ETA- Harland is also based in Florida (although they actually have clients nationwide and only do banking...)

It is true that Shopper's Critique is based in FL but I do far more of my shopping for them in Illinois than FL...that is why I continue to suggest signing up for everyone! Ann Michaels is based in IL and I do more shopping for that company in FL than in IL (far more). Mintel is located in IL and I do more for them in IL. I just don't think you can use where a company is located as a basis.

ETA-Harland. What is the full name please? And thank you so much everyone!
No - I did not mean to imply that you should ONLY sign up for MSC based in the area that you live - just that it is a way to prioritize the order in which you sign up for companies. Start with those based in the area you live and move out from there.

Harland Clarke is the full name.
Off topic, I know -- but I am new so please forgive me -- does the forum have a moderator? Is there someone who removes posters like balla and posts that advertise products and services unrelated to the board topics??

Yes. From what I've seen, if someone follows the offending post with just the word spam, it seems to be easily identified and removed in due time.

BTW, no need to apologize. No way to know unless you askgrinning smiley

Hi MotherDaughterTeam. Cute name by the way !! smiling smiley

I'm a Central Florida shopper! There are a lot of us and since we live in a great state for tourists and have a lot of FUN things around- people are super competitive. I don't think we have to be mean about it though.....

Anywho- sign up for the list of companies on this site. Its quite extensive and will take forever to do so...lol- but its worth it. I do a country check and try to see where most of the shops are located before filing the company under FL or Non FL. It helps me keep track of who has what clients in this area.

Keep in mind- a lot of shoppers in this area shop FULL TIME- I am always amazed when I happen to pick up a popular shop out of pure luck, because people really do sit by the computer waiting for a new month release hitting the refresh button :-D

Good luck!
Yeah, what Liz said. It is not the case that because a MSC is located in a particular area that they have a lot of shops there. Intellishop and others are located in my city and I get a lot more shops from others. Just keep filling out apps. Make it a priority. You have to be proactive to make $ in this biz. NO magic bullet.
PS Mystery Shopping Cos , for the most part, take clients that are chains, for obvious reasons. Where they are physically located has little to do with it.

Harland is wonderful, but they are not based in Florida. They are out in the west, Nevada, I think. They have bank shops from Jacksonville to Tampa. They are always looking for shoppers in Clewiston and other little towns.

I live in the Tampabay area and there are a lot of shoppers here, but also a lot of shops. When you say ocean, does that mean the east side of Florida? I would suggest you apply to Bare, SWS, Market Force, Maritz and SSA. I can probably suggest other msc, if you tell me which city you live in. I pretty much shop all over mid and south Florida.
@cubbiecat do you go down to fort myers area to shop?

Always get asked to go there, but it is the only area in Florida that I dont shop.

Just take it for granted that if you are signed up with fewer than 100 companies you are missing a ton of shops in your area.

Based in MD, near DC

Poor customer service? Don't get mad; get video.

I don't usually and it is even too far for my friend who shops near Sarasota. I shop mostly Tampabay to Bradenton. I shop hotels and time shares as far as Miami, Keys and Orlando. The one time I shopped there was for a 2 nights beach condo.

Harland is definitely based in Florida - I have visited their parent offices many times. They have a satellite office out west, that is true (are you thinking of Informa? They are based out of Calasbas, CA).
@MickeyB. Their ms'ing branch is in Nevada, which is quite a few hours ahead of Florida. Sort of a pain when I have a question at 10am and they are not there. Back in the old days, I had to call in after each shop to give them the physical description of the employees I shopped (forms could be handwritten or typed and email back to them).

I just looked at their website for their mystery shopping department and this is the address: 1100 Arizona Street, Boulder City, NV 89005. BTW, if anyone is interested in applying - this is their site: [www.harlandeducation.com]

Everyone I spoke to regarding mystery shopping, in the last five years have all been from Nevada. They have 20 offices and manufacturing sites in the US and Puerto Rico, including one in Clearwater, Florida. They are headquartered in San Antonio, Texas.
SatisfactionServices is in Lauderdale.
