Which msc's have shops for new eye glass frames please??
Thought awhile back that Beyond Hello and About Face were doing them, but I do not seem currently.

Many thanks in advance.

I wondered what happened to that. I didn't get glasses or contacts, but a decent eye exam and the fee was generous enough to substantially offset my contacts.

Huh? I didn't realize Beyond Hello lost that client.

What I used to do was get a current eyeglasses prescription from one of the eye exam shops and then order my glasses online (on my own dime). I've found at least two online companies that are excellent in terms of both price and quality. I rarely wear glasses and so I may not be as picky as those have complicated prescriptions or wear glasses for many hours a day, though.
BusyBee our family buys our glasses online also. I shelled out close to $700 for two pairs of glasses one of which had the transitions lenses from the eye doc thinking I would get a pair that would last. My daughter and I were never happy with them. We ordered online to have an extra pair and those ended up being our everyday glasses because they fit better and they had done the prescription correctly. We wear our glasses all the time and I often fall asleep in mine. My daughter has a very complicated prescription and we haven't had any trouble.

One of those companies still does eye shops but if you ask me its a bum deal. You have to go to the store and pick out the glasses and then you do not get to keep the glasses you have to mail them in. The pay is $26 and now they are even offering a $15 dollar bonus. The glasses can cost anywhere from 150 to 400 bucks and you have to pony up that cash yourself until they reimburse you later. Bad deal all the way around. You got the risk of something going wrong with your 200 dollars hanging out there and for what $50? I think most of us that wear glasses hate going to the eye doctor and selecting new glasses. Its like getting a tooth pulled! They would have to pay me at least $150 dollars to go sit at the eye glass place and pick out and order a $200 dollar pair of glasses and pay for it out of my own pocket. and then.....I have to mail the glasses in and don't get to keep them. They should at least allow you to order 2 pairs of glasses and keep one pair for your pain, time, and investment expense.

Very cool, glutenfree. =D

I was lucky because my bro-in-law did most of the research and was a guinea pig first. Then, I did my own research and ordered a pair or two each from different companies. It cost me less than $20/pair on the average. I wasn't happy with some of the eyeglasses but I was partly to blame because I was simply inexperienced in ordering/wearing glasses and misunderstood some of the frame measurements.

My favorite is Zenni Opticals. Yours?
I get my glasses at zennioptical.com. It starts at (I think) $7 per pair for frames and basic lenses. Shipping is a flat fee. I usually order 4+ pairs at a time--glasses and sunglasses for myself, and extra glasses for hubby. Now we don't have to worry about hubby's getting destroyed at work or our 2 year old breaking them, since we can afford to keep spares on hand.
where is the best place to get your eye exam done before buying online?

I just get it done wherever is convenient. Ask them to provide your pupillary distance on your written prescription. Shop frames there, find frames that fit your face, and ask them to give you the frame measurements.
We started with greateyeglasses but they could not do the prism so on our second order we used eyebuydirect. Thanks BusyBee and cake..., I will check out zenni since we have appointments for next week.
Satisfaction Services. They do reimbursed exams and regular frame shop with a discount. Out of FL
If you buy glasses online, how can they adjust them (for your face)?
When I last got my glasses, I took my eye doctor's prescription to an Eyemart that I use every year and bought 2 pair (they were 2 for) - regular glasses and sunglasses. Since my astigmatism has gotten worse, the doctor recommended I have close up glasses to work on the computer. I decided to try ordering online because I planned to wear them only for working at my computer so I didn't care if they were ugly but I wanted them to be cheap. I wasn't sure I would actually wear them to work on the computer. It was very easy - I just entered the numbers from my doctor's prescription and selected the frames and paid online. They mailed them a week later. They actually are attractive and they were cheap. And I really like them and I have been wearing them when I work on my computer so I can see a lot better. If you have a prescription for the glasses, this is not a bad way to go. I may order a couple of spare pair for the regular glasses and the sunglasses - I don't wear them all the time and I tend to throw them around and abuse them. I could use a couple of spares.
We get ours at Zenni Optical, too. My eye doctor checks them and they've been perfect every time. We get lenses every year and frames every two years with our insurance, and when we do, we buy them from her practice. The ladies there are nice as can be and adjust my Zenni specs for me. They buy from Zenni sometimes themselves!
By the way, on the current shops from AF, if the provider has a buy-one-get-one special, you can keep the second pair. I haven't found these providers do that, though. It's an easy way to rack up credit card rewards points.

Zenni provides measurements for the frame. I compare that to the measurements of my current glasses. I've had one or two pairs be a smidgeon too big or too small, but at $7/pair I can live with it.
