CORI Survey

Just received the new CORI survey regarding the possibility of airport shops. Halfway through the survey, they ask you to tell them who else you shop for now, have shopped for, or signed up with to shop. Does anyone else have a gut feeling about letting them know who else you shop for? I don't know why they would need to know that. I can only think they would use the information for "nefarious" purposes. The reason I think this is because of the schedulers attitudes towards shoppers, as well as some of the editors.
I could be wrong... (It has happened!)

Many MSCs ask in the application you complete when you sign up which other MSCs you shop for. I doubt they have any nefarious reasons for asking. That doesn't mean you have to tell them. I don't. I either note "miscellaneous" or I state that I have signed ICAs which prohibit revealing my relationship with other MSCs.

edited to say: I just took that survey. For a chance to win $25, it's a 3-minute survey. They want to know a lot more than which MSCs you shop, way beyond what I'm willing to reveal. I wouldn't even give them the names, much less how frequently and how recently I've shopped with the MSCs. I just skipped that part and submitted.

Good afternoon,

Did anyone else receive a survey from CRI? I did not complete because of the information regarding the information that they wanted about other companies.

Hi, I just posted about this and then removed it when I saw this posted. I did not complete the survey because I am not comfortable with giving any information about any company I work for. Glad to know others feel the same way.

I second that.
I started the survey, then quickly exited when they wanted me to indicated whom I'm registered with, or not, and who I shop for regularly.

I just opened that survey and started to complete it. I was going to post here about it and saw this post. I can not even believe the information they are asking for us to provide. I will not provide them this information. Absolutely, none of their business. This survey would allow them to know what other companies each of their shoppers work with. They would be obtaining information on their competition and their own shoppers would be providing it to them. I still can't believe they have the nerve to ask this information.

What did I get out of it? I have a nice list of companies, so I can apply to the ones I am not yet a shopper for.

I don't consider mining for information to be nefarious, dirty or underhanded at all. Inquiries like this happen every day in business, even among the most ethical companies.

Part of my full time job is competitive research, and the two best sources of information regarding your competition are your customers and your suppliers. It never hurts to ask the question. I've asked very similar questions (albiet not in a fairly comprehensive list form) hundreds of times, and you would be amazed at the information that can be gathered.

That being said, I didn't answer the survey either. Not because I feel that this type of activity is wrong or that I feel that it's none of their business. The reason I didn't answer it is that I don't know which MSC's may have a clause tucked away in their ICA that prevents revealing the status of our IC relationship. Seeing that I am an IC and not an employee of a company, I don't feel like facing either termination or legal action, so I left it blank. If I knew that neither of those two actions would occur, I'd give the information to them. There's only so much that can be done with just company names.

It is a nice list to reference for signups though. smiling smiley
I too got to the page with all the other companies and bailed. I was bothered more by them not having an option for "I'd rather not say" or "MYOB" or anything to that effect.

Equal rights for others does not mean fewer rights for you. It's not pie.

You can leave every answer on that section blank and the survey will still submit.
I did and am curious how many others did the same. It certainly looks like forum members wouldn't provide the information, but they have to have a lot of shoppers who have never heard of this place or that other one.

Ditto. I'm not willing to share that, and there is no need for them to know.

Go ahead, ask me to violate an ICA. I won't do it, and the MSCs that read the board will know not to hire you, since you can't be trusted.
Yes - I wonder if submitting without the info on companies means we won't win the $25 .......LOL....I was so looking forward to winning a big 25 smackers.......

This was my concern exactly, and was the reason why I canceled the survey without submitting it. I don't *think* that admitting that I have done work with certain companies in the past would violate *most* of my ICAs, but it's not worth it to me to take that kind of chance and risk damaging any of my relationships with the other companies to whom I choose to contract my services.

Agreed, and I'm grateful to them for compiling such an excellent list. smiling smiley
