Bestmark

I applied to be a mystery shopper for Bestmark about two months ago. I recently received an email, asking if I was still interested as they had many shops in my area.

About a week ago, I received a list of shops in my area for January. I applied to five of them that were close to where I live.

I received five emails back, I am sorry these shops were assigned to another shopper. We have other shops you may be interested in. The other shops where not any where I was interested in traveling to.

I guess they give the shops to shoppers they already have experience working with.

My scheduler sends out lists of shops that are stale. If you go directly to the website you are going to see a more current list and can sign up for them there. They are sort of a mixed bag of self-select and request/assign.
More likely that you've just got lots of competition. Keep applying to the shops you're interested in and one of these days you'll get the assignment.
I agree with Mert. Keep applying. When you are new, the only do scheduler assigns until you have completed some number (I can't recall how many) and then you can self-assign as long as you have less than 2 cancellations in a 30-day period. At the same time, others can self assign, so you are competing against people self-selecting and those who were quickest on a button to respond to the scheduler and whatever process the scheduler uses to determine who is "most suitable." Eventually your turn will come up.

Kittybratt, you are correct. They have a favorite set of shoppers they take care of first. I have caught them at this several times. I have been with them several years and know what you are going thru.

Shopping Bama and parts of Georgia.
I'm still learning 24/7.
Not specific to Bestmark, I think that most (if not all) companies that are not strictly self-assign have a set of shoppers that they consider their "go to" people. The only difference for me personally is whether I AM on that list, whether I WANT to be on that list, and what needs to happen to make the first two coincide.

I think that I have recieved emails phishing for emails posing as BestMark. Would you please give me their actual address? I have a sneaking feeling that these people are scammers. Thanks!

I ended up on their go to list 2 wks ago when I agreed to do a shop 45 minutes from home for a huge fee plus bonus and reimbursement. It was an easy shop and something I needed anyway. They called three days later and asked me to go back and have a different service performed. The pay was exactly the same, so I went. Now they want me to go back again next week. The people are going to think I'm a huge airhead that I'm driving 45 minutes one way to have things done on three days in two weeks instead of having it all done at one time!

But they do pay fast! smiling smiley
I seem to have a "mother-in-law" or "aunt" in virtually every area where my presence could be puzzling. So, for example, I want to maybe open a new checking account with a bank in a town 50 miles away from the address on my driver's license? "I'm near here a couple of times a week to check up on my MIL." So obviously you are out where the service is performed so often because you need to check in on _______. It also allows you to ask for a time estimate easily because you need to pick her up from [the doctor, her bridge game, the beauty salon, _____]
