I applied recently and was sent several emails regarding shops in my area; I applied to two, one was later in the week and another shop was yesterday, pending a close dead-line. So the woman called me 2 hours before and asked if I could do it, I said yes and she stated that's great, I'll make an account for you and email you the details in 10 minutes....
90 minutes later, she calls and asks if I can still take the shop, obviously I can't it takes me 30 minutes to get there..so I say no and she gets mad and hangs up the phone!! I lost the opportunity to do that shop and the future shop, an account was never created and the stream of emails have stopped.

Mason, it sounds to me like you were not signed up with them already. Sign up with them because they can't just 'create an account' for you without you signing off on their ICA. I suspect there was a misunderstanding of who needed to do what and when. They are a legitimate company and although they are not my favorite company, they do sometimes have interesting jobs. There is a link from their login page to sign up. [www.msishopper.net]
This is one of my favorites but they can be very strict. If you are willing to do the work and put in the time then you are all good. Don't know why and who was ugly to you. Sounds strange.
When you apply, you are not necessarily immediately accepted. They accept you when they need shoppers in your area. So, to me it sounds like they had your app, but had not approved it, then needed someone in your area, called, and now you are in. After several shops and some digital upload stuff you can self assign.

I agree, they are one of my favorites too, and yes they are strict.
Although I am now self-assign and can search for their shops, it wasn't always thus. For the longest time, after I was signed, I could neither search nor self-assign. Reading here, I learned that wasn't the norm, and I inquired. Someone, somewhere flipped the switch for me. Now, both are possible. Although they don't have much in my area, I enjoy a good relationship.

Unless they changed it, to be able to self assign you have to have properly completed five assignments.
Yes. Before that, you only get what offers of what their already self-assign status folks haven't signed up for.

This is one of my favorite companies too. I waited a loooong time after signing up before I was offered a shop. It was out of my way, but I took it & got my foot in the door.

I don't remember how many shops I had to complete before I could self-assign (I think it was 5 or 10). Anyway, I can self-assign now & the grocery shops are my favorites.

I ditto this, I love the grocery shops. Diapers are EXPENSIVE and I will bend over backwards to do exactly what they ask of me. LOVE IT.
I love this company and get most of my groceries for next to free from doing work for them. They are strict but fair and they are willing to work with you. They called me and wanted me to do a job that day. I said I could the next and they gave it to me and then asked if I could do the same shop the day after if they extended the deadline I said sure.
It was over two years after I applied to this company before they needed me. Before I was self-assign, I would get emails for various assignments and often get beat out by another shopper with self-assign. One day a scheduler called to request that I do a grocery shop for them that they couldn't get filled so I asked her about the self-assign process.

I think she said for regular self-assign you needed five shops. For Business Verification self-assign, you need three successful BVs in your history.

She said that next time a shop became available, I should call and ask to speak with a scheduler. They can assign the shop over the phone quicker than my submitting a request. A quick self-assigner could still potentially grab the shop while you're trying to call, but it's a place to start.
I didn't have to do 3 BV's before I could self assign them, I only had to one. But I had already completed 90 shops for them in a 3 month period by that time.

I was allowed to self assign after 5 shops. No BV's. This was in October 2009. Things may have changed since you vets started.
I was also allowed to self assign after 5 shops, which I did in about 3 days... What I was attempting to say was, I got offered a BV after I had completed 90 shops, did that one, and could self assign those after that, too.

I wish I could self assign BVs. I've been able to self assign shops for a couple years, but I just recently completed my first BV. Whenever I sign up for more, I never get them.
Hmmm..I've only done 1 BV and it was self assign. I'd been assigning for awhile before them.

I had to cancel my first shop I ever did with them...woke up the day of my first shop with a terrible stomach virus and spent the whole day sick as a dog. There was no way I could leave the house and get to the shop. I emailed them and got a response saying that they decided to give me a second chance. Ever since then it's been great.

BTW...even before I could self assign, I could search the shops. I could do that as soon as they approved me and gave me the first shop.

All of the grocery shops are gone within 10-15 minutes of the email being posted around here. In do not see how they get them so quick.
I received email notices of shops, it was not self-assign. I was informed once I accepted a shop, I would receive an account login and password. Anyways a few days ago either because of a lapse in shops or because of this post, I started receiving emails again.

Not me. No search, only emails of leftovers.
