I am really upset.

I am new at this, I did a gas station shop the other day. I finally felt like I had covered all the bases and did a really good job. Well after I submitted the report I realized that I had made a mistake, when asked if I was greeted I put no, but after going over my note I saw where I was greeted, so I contacted my scheduler and asked if I could make this right. I was told yes that she would show me how to re submit my report, I recieved an email from the company that my report was over due and that I would not get paid if it wasn't turned in by midnight last night. Well I tried to contack my scheduler and she was out of the office, I recieved another email from corporate office with same messeage, this was a $9 shop. WEll this morning I have the report back in my inbox, empty!!!! My scheduler sent me an email this morning saying she sent me back the report and I can do it now....BS!! sorry I know I'm ranting but this ticks me off. I want so bad to get a good reputation but I wont if things like this happens. So any advice would be extremly appreciated.
thanks

That's how it goes sometimes. Don't fret about one shop, your entire reputation is still in the making. We learn from mistakes and move on.

I'd count yourself lucky and move on. Many companies I worked with when I was first starting out wouldn't allow me to resubmit. If there was an error, they rejected my report and didn't pay me. My guess is they then made the correction themselves and submitted it to a client.

The key argument here is that they expect meticulous attention to detail. If you miss a few things on a report, they ask, did you miss a few things during the shop too.

I think we all feel your pain, We have all had ajob or two that turned into much more work and effort and stress and aggravation than the job was worth.

But in most cases, we allowed ourselves to learn from that and move on. To make us a little better next time.

That's my advice.

If you want to be a successful mystery shopper, then correct your mistake, shrug your shoulders and move on. I bet you never miss that particular question again.

This incident will be indelibly planted in your brain.
thanks I guess that the company stressing "no mistakes or no pay" made me think they would want to help me out a little more, but you're right, its just one job.

And while we try to be 100% accurate, we too get to be human. There is a difference between a grunt of acknowledgement and a lukewarm greeting and a warm and friendly greeting. While all 3 theoretically would get a 'yes' for a simple question about whether or not you were greeted, when the greeting was not a real greeting or the question not more specific, I am not going to beat myself up because I indicate I was not greeted. Acknowledged, yes, greeted, no.
Was that from Coporate Research International? Because I've had similar problems with them and I no longer shop for them after an editor lied to me.
Every company is different. Some will help. Some won't. Don't stress.

Make Word copies of everything at least for a while, so that if your shop disappears you can email the shop in its entirety to your scheduler. It might not help, but being proactive can't hurt. Same with reciepts. If you can't get it to upload, send it directly to your scheduler with a note. Most will help you, especially if you tell them you will help them if they get stuck. I've done a number of shops that I've made next to nothing on just because I like the scheduler.

Understand that in this business, doing your shop on time and correctly is very important and you may not get paid if you don't do that, but most schedulers will help you, especially after you do a few last minute shops (well and on time) for them!

Good Luck!
If I were you, I will just forget about it and move on and get their name of your list. I don't like demanding companies with so low pay.
I know this sucks. Move on. When you are new, you do make mistakes. After doing this a while, the mistakes still happen, but rarely, so you do get better with time and experience. We all been there...

If it makes you feel better, I've screwed up a $40 shop smiling smiley It was not funny when it just happen, but now I can laugh about it...
