Trendsource direct deposit ?? Please help experienced shoppers...

Hi guys! I have done a few shops with trend source I already received a check for my first shop but it said something about needing to set up direct deposit for future payments... Do you have to use direct deposit? I looked through the FAQ and didn't see anything about this.... I also don't see any posts on here about it. Any help from shoppers that use them is appreciated!

Do you have a reason not to use direct deposit? I believe TrendSource may require it. Also, there's several MSCs that will charge a fee if they have to write a check rather than direct deposit.
Hey Katioard! Thanks for the reply! I really don't like giving out my bank info to anyone so really prefer PayPal which most of the MSCs I have been using give the PayPal option or a check option.. I will give the bank info to them if I have to i just didn't want to unless I had to so wanted to see what people's experience has been.... You haven't had any problems with giving the info out? Thanks again! smiling smiley
I have had them depositing directly into my credit union since 2006. I could not be happier with how it has worked for me. Their payments have usually been on the 5th to 7th for jobs done the last half of the previous month.

Lissymaree, Is there something about direct deposit that doesn't work for you?

Lissymaree, do you ever write checks to pay your bills? When you do you are giving that company or person your bank informationwinking smiley Just be sure you are dealing with a legitimate company.

TS is superfast with payments! I did a shop and was paid 3 days later. They have 2 pay periods in the month and I performed that shop just before pay went in. The pay is low but the money is fast! smiling smiley
I agree with Lisa. Anytime you write a check you are giving a company or a person that very same information. Plus they are often more local and then know your address as well. I have been working with Trendsource since before 2005 but since 2005 working with them on a very regular basis. I have so many companies direct depositing into my bank account and I have never had one problem at all. On the contrary, I love when I open up my bank account in the morning and find a deposit that I wasn't expecting quite yet.

I would open a separate free checking account and use it only for MSCs. I personally never use my house account. Works the best for me.
I have an account only for TS I work for them so often. I've never had a problem. They are super careful with all communication and I think they are encrypted when they correspond. They are the only co that actually wants all emails through the website login only.
Your account should be protected from fraud anyways, but feel free to open a separate MS account... It could make tracking things easier, esp if you cover shop expenses with it as well.

Check out Pinnacle... you may be able to turn opening a new account into a MS. Their bank account opening jobs seem to pay around $50 in my area. There's probably others, but that's the only MS I've come across so far that actually involves opening a new acct vs. just inquiring about one.

There are also several free accounts you can create with online banks.
Lissy, Trend Source is a reputable company. You take more of a risk getting a check mailed than you do giving out your account information.

The routing number and account number that you give out are for depositing funds into your account. Withdrawals are coded differently.

You can't self-assign with them without direct deposit. If you're concerned, do a bank shop and open up a savings account just for MSing. Get paid to do it :-).

I've never had a problem either with direct deposit, and pretty much everyone else has already covered the pros and concerns... But if you really feel concerned about it, I agree with the approach recommended by @shopper8, you can open a separate account only for direct deposit, even better if it's in the same bank as your regular account, and then just transfer your money out to your regular account on an ongoing basis. That way there's no money to syphon out assuming someone steals your account numbers.
I really appreciate all of your feedback! I guess just being new to MS and not sure exactly who the best companies are I wanted to hear from others so I'm really happy I reached out as you all have been extremely helpful!

If the company is on the"official list of ms companies" on this site (at the bottom of the page) it's been well vetted and should be considered reputable. This forum is a wonderful place to research companies as well, and find out what other shoppers think of them. Just do a search for the company you're courious about and read past threads. There's a wealth of info here. I've been able to increase my income WHILE decreasing the number of shops I do steadily each month, and I owe it all to this site. I've asked a few questions here or there, but mainly I've just been reading...And it's made a ton of difference!
I use their direct deposit. They pay like clockwork. No problems. I like direct deposit much better than receiving paper checks.
Yes, I do direct deposit (DD) with several companies - no issues. Others do paypal (PP). I like that too. In fact, when i have to get checks, I tend to not like that cause now I have to stop at the credit union ATM and deposit the checks - almost the only time I ever have to stop there. I wish they all did DD or PP
It's allot faster! I would recommend you do as they may charge a FEE for checks. I don't remember if they do or not.
As a general rule I prefer direct deposit because, as has been mentioned, I am not providing information beyond that which is on the face of my checks. My understanding is that a direct deposit can be reversed, but it is extremely difficult to do judging by my attempts to get someone else's direct deposit reversed back to sender when it erroneously landed in my bank account.

I gather that Paypal is easier to reverse out, though still not simple. I transfer Paypal payments on to a savings account at the same bank where I have checking and transfer the money on along to my checking when the payment comes in, leaving only enough in the savings account to keep the account open. This means that if there is going to be a reversal I need to be involved in it because if there is not enough money in the account, Paypal is not authorized to create a negative balance in the account.

Paper checks, which would seem to be the safest form of payment, are actually the worst because they can be written on an insufficiently funded account and bounce, they can be delayed or lost in the mail and before remote deposit, could even be forgotten on my desk for a while.
If you are taking votes, direct deposit gets my vote. That's my favorite way to be paid.
Thanks again everyone... I have been thinking it over and everything you guys have said and I agree I think direct deposit or Paypal are best... I do think I'm going to set up a direct deposit account just for the MS companies because I just want to keep this income separate from my full time job/ expenses income. I have really gotten into this more for extra money so thinking that will work best! I am definitely reading through old threads to gain more info and very appreciate of all of the veterans help!
I have worked for them for several years and have always had direct deposit. No problems with this company ever.....
Also, with Trendsource you need to have an EIN if you start reaching the $600 a year mark, right?!

Right. Used to be, I believe/recall, you had to have an EIN just to get paid. Now, and I confirmed a few months ago, it's if you reach $600.
I've been shopping for them since 2005 and I've never gotten the EIN though at one time they stated they weren't going to use shoppers who didn't get one. They gave up on that. But, they don't pay well enough for me to do over $600 a year with them.
They only use direct deposit and pay twice a month, on the 5th and the 20th. Just got paid a nice fee, right on time. They are great with pay, years working for them without a problem/
