Ponderosa Steakhouse

Up until a few years ago, I used to shop Ponderosa Steakhouses in my area on a fairly regular basis. There are 4 locations in my shopping area and each month, between lunch and dinner, I did at least 2 locations. I was notified that my MSC no longer handled Ponderosa. Can anyone tell me whot MSC handles Ponderosa?

I would love to know that myself. I also want to know who does Friendly's. (It is possible both are not being shopped at the present time.) Hints please??
As mentioned in response to JRP01 only a little more than a week ago, Ponderosa went into bankruptcy. While they have emerged, they have limited locations and I doubt seriously are ready to resume shops. Emerging from bankruptcy only means there is a CHANCE you will survive. As for Friendly's, to the best of my knowledge they have not been shopped in a year or so.
They must be shopped yet on a limited basis, both up here just not as often. I've been a Shopper for along time now but who has their account is a Secret.

I got an email this morning to do a shop at Ponderosa!! I did request it and am waiting to hear back.
I am doing a Ponderosa later this month, but I think it is more of a "reward them if they say something right" shop.

Read those instructions carefully. They seem to change in the middle of the stream- guest no guest....
The shop went really well but I did not get to give the $20 award. I am going to try to do more of these. They are so easy. I have never done a reveal shop before.
Unfortunately the one remaining Ponderosa here got closed down by the health department. More critical violations than you could imagine. I'm not suprised considering what I saw there.

Or perhaps, given what you are saying, fortunate...before someone ended up seriously ill.

Exactly Dee. The hot food and cold food were both the same temperature---lukewarm. There was something resembling mud or who-knows-what flung up across a wall and they didn't appreciate it when I sent a picture to bear proof about soemthing particularly nasty I saw there. Someone from the MS company questioned me about the item and I had the foresight to take a sneaky photo while I was there just to be on the safe side. Just had a hunch.

I noticed while doing a 24 hour "coffee shop" restaurant this week that a new addition to the instructions was that if there was anything you thought needed help and you could take a picture without feeling awkward or compromised, please do...I hope this is not a new trend. Restaurant photos... :-)

Lisa, what is the fee for this shop please? I did not write it down on my log sheet. I think it is $5.
The original question was:
" Can anyone tell me whot MSC handles Ponderosa?"
but nobidy did answer it yet. Can anyone help?
Thank you
The problem is that for anyone to answer it would be a violation of their ICA with the company doing the jobs. Read any ICA and you will note that you are not to divulge confidential information from your relationship. This generally on forums is loosely defined as mentioning the company and client names in the same thread. It probably also extends to fees/reimbursements, length of questionnaire and certainly to specific questions asked, but these generally are probably not something that would cause as much concern as naming a company's clients.
Weren't these folks originally known as Bonanza? I miss those places. They were great before as steakhouses but with the industry change to buffet style, they seemed to have lost control of the quality they had.

I sure wish we still had the original here in Texas. smiling smiley
I think there was both a Bonanza and a Ponderosa years ago. I think Bonanza went the way of the dodo and in many areas of the country Ponderosa has followed suit. I don't think it was a name change with a 'new concept'. Of course at this point, in my area at least, about the only buffet style places left are Chinese buffets. I noticed the other day that Pizza Hut has resurrected their lunch buffet at some locations and KFC has also resurrected their buffet at some. But even the ubiquitous salad bar has mostly disappeared from the landscape.

Both are owned by the same company.
