Definitely sounds like a scam bmttinman. Mystery shopping companies will not send a cheque to deposit into your account without having done a legitimate shop. Also a large cheque amount is definitely a scam. Do not cash this and talk to your bank about it. Also find the phone number from the website to check a legitimate company - call them to verify. Scammers are getting very sneaky so do your due diligence.
Makes you wonder why it doesn't come from their domain and we all know legitimate companies don't pay for work in advance and send checks to random strangers...
Mystery Shopping Canada is a legitimite Company. I have completed shops with them, for which I was paid in a timely manner. Also the link you have provided appears to go to the Signup page for their Shopmetrics Page. However, the email you received is a complete scam! Maybe let the company know that their name is being used in a scam.

I realize that MS Canada is a legitimate company, but we all know that MSCs get their names used frequently in scams. I went to the link, and it doesn't look like the other Shop Metrics sign up pages which first only ask for your name, email address, and maybe zipcode if I am not mistaken. They don't take you to the full contact info page initially. Also, there is this:

.nu is the Internet country code top-level domain (ccTLD) assigned to the island state of Niue.

Thanks JAS, I knew something was wrong about the page, but it has been a while since I actually signed up on the Shopmetrics Signup page. I just went to the actual Mystery Shopping Canada site and went to their Signup Page and it was a totally different Address. (www.mscreporting.com/shopperSignup.asp). I have never seen a scammer actually use a signup page before, especially one that actually looks like a Shopmetrics Signup page. Usually they just have you send them your information by email.

And it is odd to have @job4u.com for the email, right? I've reported the job posting and also the other posts from that Mike guy who is trying to take advantage of unsuspecting shoppers, I know that seasoned shoppers know better than to fall for the check scam but newbies who wander in here might. Mods haven't done anything yet about it. I am on my way to work, hopefully it all gets straightened out soon.
Does this mean the person posting here was actually directing shoppers to a sophisticated scam site? If so, they have really upped their game.

I am a great BS detector and I signed up and got a $2450.00 check by Fedex today. Off to the police tomorrow.
I received the same amount.

I clicked on the link to the post and the post for the fraudulent site still shows. I reported it a few days ago. Why haven't the mods removed it?
