A Closer Look Checks

This is on their website:

Unfortunately, it has come to our attention that there is a printing issue causing the ink to be illegible on a small batch of our shopper reimbursement checks. This did not affect the date the checks were mailed - they went out as scheduled. If you have issues with your check getting cashed or bank questions, please email shopperchecks@a-closer-look.com.

I was affected by this. Funny story. I couldn't get to the bank for a while, so I gave this check to my friend who was going to that bank anyway. It was a Saturday, and very hot. She came back with the check because the branch was closed. They had always been open on Saturday but this was the first weekend they started closing!

So I walked down a day or two later, and on my way back I got hit by a car as a pedestrian. So the check was officially cursed, and I have to go to the chiropractor twice a week. Then like a day or two later I see a notice that the check has been returned!

The teller told me it was because they could not read the account number, so I called ACL and they said they were sorry and they would reissue a check and send it Priority without waiting for me to return the check to them. I emailed them a digital copy of the bank statement showing the return and the $6 returned item fee.

Well, that was a week ago. I'm still waiting. I've notified the accountant there several times, and I just keep hearing, wait another day or two, it might be on his way. Even first class mail should only take 3 days max.
OMG, that check was cursed! I hope you are okay?

Not good news, and I honestly don't have mail go missing. Another reason to get rid of checks.
I am with you!

Hello,

I thought an update is important here. Because ACL is so big (they have done a tremendous job as one firm with so many small and large clients), having a check go missing is disconcerting. It never showed up on USPS Informed, so it really never entered the mail stream.

So basically, one needs to wait a month to get a re-issue. That time passed, and the team did process the re-issue. USPS Informed shows both the re-issue and the Feb check (for Jan services) as well. So, good news, just a bit of a lag as I had to keep those Dec shops on my outstanding payment list a lot longer than I expected.
It takes up to a week for the system to start pulling the images and linking to your account.

A picture is taken of every near letter size when it enters the mail stream. They are tracked until scheduled delivery. Glad they found a less big brother use for these.

UPS has a similar service as well. It also notifies on Surepost (UPS does everything but last mile delivery).

I found out about Informed mail through the forum a few months back. It a great service.
