I got offered a casino shop for this company. I have done them before for other companies and so I know the drill pretty well. My concern is I will be putting forth ALOT of money up front the hotel alone is $263 a night. The company has assured me that as soon as I turn in my receipts I can be reimbursed. But, I am still nervous I have never worked with them before and I can't afford to be out that much money if they decide to take time reimbursing me. Does anyone have any advice?

I've never done a shop for them, though they have offered them to me. My disagreement with them was about not being able to keep any winnings. Other MSCs I have done casino shops let me keep my winnings, though that only happened a couple of times.

I have no idea how long they take to pay.
I thought that was odd to. Although I never win anything but my luck I would hit it big and would not get to keep it.
After thinking about it all night and being very nervous I decided to go with my instincts and not do the job. If I had more disposable income I would not worry about it but almost $300 just for the hotel is a bit much.
Also odd that they aren't going to reverse charges for the room, I prefer doing shops where that is how they do it. I know that there is a company that does hotel shops that takes about 90 days to pay. If you put nearly $300 on your credit card and they take over 60 days to pay, are you going to have to pay interest or do you have the means to pay it off when the bill comes in?
I think you are making a good choice. Save it for a few years down the road when you have more disposable income and a couple of hundred dollars isn't going to make you nervous.

Another thing I didn't like about it (for me) was that the location was almost an hour away from where I live and they would not agree to add a little extra compensation for travel. And the scheduler was kind of snooty in communication with me. Hopefully you had a different scheduler.
This company requires that you get receipts from cocktail servers.
Therefore, even though I am an experienced casino shopper, I refuse to work for them.
I have shopped for them before but never would again. I believe them to be unprofessional on a good day and unethical on a bad day.

I did get paid for work that I completed. My issue with them comes down to the fact that they requested I rent a car and bill it to one client (shop A) when using a taxi would have been the cheaper option for the client. They wanted me to rent a car because they wanted me to bundle the shop with another shop in the area for a totally different client where a car was required.

I was flying in to complete shop A. Apparently they couldn’t get this shop B scheduled with a local. Their “plan” to get shop B completed involved expensing a car to shop A, who was totally unrelated. Unethical.
I had one casino shop with this MSC and that was it for me. Obnoxious rude scheduler, shop rules which are almost impossible to fulfill without superhuman skills. I think the scheduler(s) also own the MSC. A small operation which brings big headaches. No thx.
Never ever again.
I realize some time has passed since your post, but I have done casino shops for them and can tell you that you made the right decision. They don't pay right away and will take money off if they don't like the results. I did my first one for them, they immediately wanted me to do an overnight at another casino. I went back to the same casino the next month. It was one of the worst casino experiences I've had. The casino customer wasn't happy because they said it was "too negative." The editor never questioned anything I submitted. They cut my pay by $10. They pay via a bank that does their processing.

Just more info on the company, FYI.
You will get paid, but they will run you through the ringer and asked you a million questions because their report form is too general but they want specifics but you don't know that so they yell at you asking you for more information.
I did a Casino shop for them a month ago and have been asked no less than five more times if I can do another. After each of these requests, I was assured that I would be paid after the 25th. After this last request from them, I once again asked when I would be paid/reimbursed. Their answer now is the 25th of the following month after the month you shopped. So, nine weeks to be reimbursed the $200+ of my own money. Ah, NO JUST SAY NO!
