Dataquest!

Help! I had talked with a scheduler and gotten the OK to do a hotel shop on a different date ... problem is, 2 weeks later, he never changed the shop of my date in Sassie. And my hotel shop is tomorrow! I've tried reaching out again but gotten zero response. HELP!

If it is in writing that you have the okay, do the shop. CALL them on Monday to change the date.

Thanks! I was freaking out. Appreciate the response. It's my first time doing a shop for them so I don't want to mess it up.
I would forward the email stating the date change. Add a polite comment/reminder that you had the okay to do the shop on a different date and along with the obligatory "thanks for your help" comment.
Good Luck I hope everything goes well. Breathe, you will really enjoy working with the staff of Dataquest. Remember to take really great photos and write as if you are trying to help a blind person see your experience. Write through your 5 senses.

Really? Isn't it too much work for the measly pay?
Nikki,
Remember, rewards points are part of the payoff for regular hotel/hospitality shoppers. And, also I have had some sumptuous meals on DQ hotel shops, with far less burdensome reports than most FD assignments. I do not find the reports as burdensome as ALL may make it sound, btw. And I am not even a touch typist, so quite slow doing narrative-heavy reports.

Poor customer service? Don't get mad; get video.
I am tempted to take one but was wondering if it was far too much narrative. Now I think I may grab one.
No not at all, I look at the questions and answer the questions like I am telling a story by talking into my computer that has Dragon Naturally Speaking. It transcribes my spoken words into text. Easy breezy and really fun. I am also a sign language storyteller and dancer and very much use to vividly telling stories to touch the senses and make sure that the reader can feel as if they experienced the encounter first hand.

Try it and I would elicit the eagle eye of an experienced writer, travel writers or bloggers. I have found that they are eager and honored to help travel, food & beverage and hospitality writers to get started and avoid their pitfall. I have even sat down with people in the hospitality industry to try and understand what is that they are looking for and in what tone they would like to have it presented.
Of course, this kind of inquiry is done in my free time and never when I am conducting an assignment.
Always try to present from a non-bias point of view.

Good Luck, Rooting for you!!!
I had one of the best duck dinners EVER at the hotel in Burlington VT. Room service too and double dipped the shop so it was all good.
The scheduler was on vacation. Somebody else from the company got back to me by 10 a.m. Monday and everything was OK. Thanks, everyone! I wish I had been less stressed, but it appears to have worked out fine in the end!
Many thanks for the update!

DQ is one of my favorites. I wish they had more work.
