BEWARE +++++!!! SERVICE SOLUTIONS, INC-TOM CALLAGHAN (owner)

Shoppers, beware of this guy, TOM CALLAGHAN of SERVICE SOLUTIONS, INC.

He has never paid me a dime without me having to chase my money. TO DATE I am still struggling to claim my final payment from this dishonest person. This amounts to close to $300.

I did Fast Food shops for this guy for three different clients as well as Optical shops in a wholesale club.

After several attemtpts that I did not get my payment according to our agreement, I now also reported my experience to Johnathon at Shadow Shoppers. This is not Tom's personal website but the platform he uses to announce his shop offers.

Go with GREAT CAUTION with this guy. He is NOT to be trusted with one's trash!

WOW....I thought I was the only one who had to fight him!!! I only do one job a month for him, but it is like crazy trying to get him to pay. I actually looked his phone number and address up on google, and that got me paid. They completely ignored emails.
T. Callaghan experience:

I started in Dec. 2010 and did two BK's 2x a month. Got my Dec. Pay in late January, then nothing. Did shops until May, thinking it was just a slow pay on his end. But he ignored emails, and so did his employee, Janet. After researching through this and another forum, I realized that Tom is using other people's money. This guy should be closed down.

On Saturday, 6/4, I sent him an email stating that if I did not receive 100% of my earnings by the end of the next week I would forward messages obtained from this shoppers forum, as well as my experience, to the respective clients.

On Tuesday, 6/7 - I received FULL payment via Paypal.

THIS GUY IS BAD NEWS.

lessingd,
Please remove the client name from your post. No matter how badly the guy behaves, your ICA should be honored, for the sake of us all.

Thanks to Johnathon of Shadowshopper (who I assume contacted Tom and urged him to pay me), to this mystery shop forum which helps us keep one another updated with the facts, and also thanks to the fact that I threatened Tom to take legal actions against him, I found out he settled his overdues with me in full.

Now I dont want to have anything to do with this guy, but I HAD to open your eyes guys, the sad truth is , unless you chase your money you will NOT get paid for your efforts. Whenever and wherever Tom finds a loophole to escape from, he does not think twice to screw shoppers up.

On another thread, a certain shopper bearing the handle of Flash was very helpful when they gave his contact details (Physical address-NOT just the PO Box he regularly uses ) and Phone number. USE THEM !! And I really hope you will eventually ALL get paid, my friends!
Hi HKWC,

Yes Johnathon did. Shadowshopper is a serious mystery shop job board/ platform. Its true that unlike certain other shoppers sites, we pay a fee to benefit from membership, but in cases like these I guess its worth it! Johnathon has helped me also on past occasions when I had similar complaints. GOOD LUCK!!!

Ceil01,

You are so right on! Unless this guy is aware that shoppers know his whereabouts and that he can actually get caught, he keeps ignoring emails.

I'm happy for you to get paid in full. It's sad that we shoppers have to turn into jungle beasts with persons like this guy, but at least now you got him off your chest!!

Thank you for this information. No one wants to do work and have to chase after payment. Perhaps no one will work for this company after reading the forums. We can add this one to the list with Goodwin and Mystique.
I had the same issues with the person. I did Dunkin Donuts for him. I did an average of 15-30 a months and everything was fine. I was paid as I agreed too. Then he stated to be late and I got no reponse from him or Janet. He owed me two months of shops and after I called the number that was posted here I got paid for one month within a few days. Then nothing for two more months. I am a lawyer and just gained as much information about him....Janet this company and his clients I did the shops for. I sent him an email with all this information and told him I was filing a lawsuit too the tune of about 20 times what he owed me. I have him a two day deadline to pay me. Which he did. This guy is slime.

I dont agree at all. We have contracts that they provided. When they dont pay for our work they have broken the contract, null and void.

If the deadbeat doesn't like it he can always take it to a court of law and explain to the Judge that he didnt pay his debt according to the contract, so the shopper reported non payment to his clients. Shopper wasn't being paid for the work he did for the benefit of the client.

Let the Court decide who broke the contract and who owes who what. It's done every day.

In such a case there is no reason not to mention the client of the deadbeat. In fact it might help to close this deadbeat down and prevent him from cheating other shoppers. The client would and certainly should know that he is paying the deadbeat a great deal of money and be concerned that this faux company would soon not be able to get IC shoppers or quality shoppers and quality reports and/or that client would become involved in deadbeat's shady doings and end up in court also.
I stopped working for him in March of this year. He still owes me for about six fast food jobs. Not a great amount, but it is still a PIA. I just sent him another email asking for the amount he owes me, but I don't expect to hear back. Who can I report him to, to make his life as miserable as he deserves.

I've been shopping since 2005, and he is the ONLY non-payor, I have ever had.
Ceil et al,

This quote comes from Flash and was posted a while ago on a similar thread:

I suggest you follow this advice because IT WORKED FOR ME at the time I reached out for advice thru this board.

"I did a couple of searches. The ssishops.com domain has been taken for a few years and networksolutions.com who was the vendor does not show any pass through information. Of course the ssishops.com website itself is "under construction" and seems to have been so for quite some time. Tcallaghan, however, would appear to be Tom Callahan with the following contact information:

720 e main st ste 1d
Moorestown NJ, 080573058
United States
Telephone: +1 (856) 273 8512

Note that your email address for him indicates tcallaghan when it is most likely tcallahan. You might try contacting without the 'g' or picking up the phone."
I have been doing mystery shops for Tom for about a year and a half. He never paid on time, but I never had to ask more than once or twice before I got paid. Over time, I started to trust him a bit, so I would let payment lag 2-3 months before asking. Well, he now owes me for 4 months/15 shops, and I have not heard from him in over 3 weeks. I have tried contacting him, as well as his assistant Janet Haug, and neither will reply. I also haven't received any new shop assignments since starting to inquire about my payment, so maybe they are playing dead. In any event, I'm planning to take him to small claims court. I am married to an attorney who would also be willing to file a suit on behalf of all of us, if we were to take it to that level.
Funkypickle,

That is a bad idea. I understand the trust that you have the scheduler, but it reinforces bad habits. If shoppers allow a company to pay when the want, they expect everyone to. To be honest I look at it this way I have to follow the agreement by; shopping the correct client, request specific information, report in a timely manner and provide support documents accordingly. I feel they should follow the same agreement and supply the information to the client, when approved pay me in a timely manner as outlinded in the ICA.
I do agree with you solutions suggestion. The squeaky wheel will get the oil first.

Funnypickle, I too have been doing mystery shops for this guy for the past 2 years. I was never paid on time but he would pay after 6 to 8 months once I requested payment. I am now owed for almost 1 year worth of Wendy's shops. I have requested payment now for over a month. Tom had stopped assigning me the shops as of July of this year. He claimed the client was putting a hold on the shops. At that time I requested my payment to which he responded on 8/10/12 that he would look into my payroll question. I have yet to get paid. The amount owed is about $300. Should you decide to file a suit on behalf of all shoppers owed I certainly would be willing to participate. Please let me know if you are able to go that route.
Why did you keep doing shops if you weren't paid for a year?

Great question Shell. It also applies to those who weep, wail and gnash their teeth over Freeman, Goodwin, Franchise Comp. et al.
I will freely admit I have one unpaid shop from Freeman. I had read about the issues, but I had to travel to the city anyway, the cost for the hotel room was reasonable and the location was highly rated. I did the shop and got paid 11 weeks later without needing to request payment.

I took another because I went to visit my son at college. The overnight wasn't needed but made my life easier. That one was in February and is yet unpaid. I really want to get paid, but walked into with my eyes wide open.

I wouldn't continue to rack up unpaid shops for a company. I don't do this full time, but it very rare that I would do more than a couple of shops for a new company without getting paid. For an company, I have a history with, I will do more. However, when they stop paying, I stop working.

All of us shoppers should report directly to the MSPA when we're not paid. I have not worked for Service Solutions. I haven't been paid by the Freeman Group. MSPA finally took them out! Should have done this a long time ago.
It took a lot more the MSPA to suspend Freeman than a few shopper complaints. In general, the MSPA will not do much of anything because they are not a watchdog organization for shoppers. They are a trade associate created by and for the benefits of the mystery shopping companies.

I just stumbled upon this forum because I was researchingTom Callaghan. I did a total of 4 fast food shops, 2 in April and 2 in May which I have yet to have been paid for. I have been emailing him and Janet Haug since June (when I explained that I will not continue to work without getting paid) and haven't heard anything. I am sickened to see that all of you are experiencing the same nonsense. Legal action should take place.
I finally received payment. I had to send 5 e-mails and call his home. I also went through Johnathon at Shaddow Shopper (johnathon@shadowshopper.com). Johnathon claims no responsibility for anything, although he has been warned about Tom Callaghan multiple times, so I wouldn't trust ShadowShopper either.

On the last e-mail, I gave an ultimatum to pay me within 5 business days or I would file a lawsuit, as well as notify the company that I was mystery shopping for. He never acknowledged receipt of my e-mail. He just paid me. I have not heard from him since.

I'm still tempted to notify the restaurant that I was shopping, as they are a new franchise and I would hate to see Tom Callaghan get more money from them.
OMG, that is a great idea. I stopped doing jobs for him in March. He used to pay slow, but paid. But now, today, I have just sent him another email, saying to pay up. Not alot of money, it is just the principle. Small Claims court would be a good idea. I just was not sure it was worth the effort for a handful of piddling burger jobs.

Update on my problem with getting paid from Service Solutions. I was just paid in full for jobs done from jan-march 12, the month. Somehow, the email I sent to him got a response, so now they owe me no money. Horray! I did not have to follow up on any threats. I am not sure I would have done so, for such a small amount of money, but didnot have to anyway.

Just one more MSC not to work for every again.

It was REALLY intemperate.

After three or four shots of Patron, I may repeat it here.

Aaaaaand, speaking of intemperance, back to playing the Vice-Presidential drinking game with my neighbors.
