New to Merchandising.....Callout????

What is a callout? How do you display jewelry? How will I know if items have been marked down? The directions I received are very vague. Would appreciate any help. Thanks!

Namaste, I wish I could help you, but I have never heard of that term “callout”. But here is a glossary I found online that may help you with other merchandising terms.

Glossary Of Merchandising Terms:

I just started doing costume jewelry merchandising (this past Fall) with a company called Lawrence Merchandising Services. I work at a Target store. However they had a training representative that met me at the store to teach me (from start to finish) how to merchandise costume jewelry and work from all of the company’s plan-o-grams and work directive bulletins . . . and the trainer gave me her cell phone number for me to call whenever I have questions or problems, plus I can go to my District Manager for help as well. It took us about 5 hours to get through the training and setting the product. It was fun and easy. Yet I can not imagine a company giving a person a merchandising job of any kind, without basic good and clear instructions. Do you have a contact person or District Manager you can contact for help? Thus far, since I have been doing merchandising, I have never been hired without at least 2 contact people I could go to for help. Yet my job is easyier, because Target does all of their own pricing and "clearance/markdown". All I have to do is set the product or move the product to a new location when it goes on "clearance/markdown". Yet in the company bulletins, they list all of the items (by Target's item numbers) that are being tagged as "clearance/markdown", though I don't need to know this . . . yet they put this in the bulletin to make us representatives aware of it . . . to move the product in case the Target associates do not move it, by the time we make our next service call.

I will say that thus far, Lawrence Merchandising Services is a great company to work for and they pay on time.
