Lol no but I would totally do that depending on how many hours it took. I'm guessing it's for ID checks or something similar where you would be the adult with a teen/young adult buying cigs or beer.

Could be real estate video shops where they need a "couple" to be shopping for a house.

I think iblessyah is on the right track. My understanding is new home shops normally take an hour or more, but apartments and others can average about 30 minutes which would fit in with completing 8 to 12 day. Sounds like easy enough money if you don't mind riding a round with a stranger for a couple days

Due diligence is never a bad idea. This does sound legit though. The fee is certainly in line with the job expectations. While I've never had a situation where the MSC got a partner for me, I have had video shops offered that would require a partner, including a long route. It makes sense since the video shopper will have a rental that they may be on a route. It is much cheaper for RBG to find a local shopper to accompany the video shopper than to pay expenses for a 2nd person on the road. In fact, I think it is a really good idea. When I was offered the route the fee was increased, but then it was up to me to find a partner and their expenses would have been on me. I declined because out of the people available I couldn't expect them to work the kind of hours necessary to get through in time for it to be profitable.

Yeah Lisa, that is the onlything that I have heard that sounds reasonable. I wasn't really considering doing it but...No it is not an underage audit thing. And I would be riding around w. a stranger fo 2 days. Doesn't it seem strange to be doing 16-24 shops all within 2 days all in this area? Maybe not. Who usually does them. Guess I could call them.
Why don't you just contact them. Depending on the jobs it ease reasonable to knock out 8 or more in a day. That does preclude them being new home shops. I have done as many as 8 apartments in a day, but not 12.
You can probably feel comfortable if it happens this is a route shopper for RBG, especially if it is a video shopper. For most video companies we have to provide a lot of information and even consent to background, driving checks, etc. Personally, I wouldn't want to spend 2 days with a stranger, but that's because I hate to ride with someone and I get bored easily, LOL!

I am back. I just got an email saying that there was a cancellation and could I do this within a day or two. I think Lisa's idea was about right, as ususal. To take notes. But the hours were cut down, I assume that someone bailed part way through. Therefore I did not respond. Thanks.

It was very limited cities. Times were not given so basically you had to have a very open free schedule.
Cynb.What part of the country are you located? I am in Dallas and I got that email. I didn't consider it, but it was because I work full time and knew I wasn't available. It did not enter my mind that it wasn't an legit offer.
I am in N. Ohio, I think it was legit, just unusual. I did not respond after the last e-mail because I could not to commit to the time schedule.
They have nothing here after losing the blue bank....that is a weird request and where do you sleep. I'd do it for an hour or so, but two days.....I assume they need a witness for whatever they are doing.

Lisa: No never found out the details, but you know they won't fill you in until you apply for the gig. They did indicate in my2nd e-mail that someone was "unable to complete the assignment" which would indicate to me that it was a bit uncomfortable or something. I don't blame the MSC for trying. We are all trying to make a buck legitimately.

I received this email as well and while I didn't question whether or not the email was authentic, mama didn't raise no fool. I ain't getting in no car with no stranger if I'm 5, 15, or 50. No sir. This independent contractor is going to independently mystery shop and stay alive. IJS.
In my email it stated you could drive alone but they would not pay gas. And it did state the gender, age range and nationality of the person meeting you so you could decide ahead of time. It was too open ended though as to the schedule.
I got the e-mail this morning. It had the date (only one day) and the number of shops. I requested more information and after finding out what I needed to know told them I would do it.
The money's not great, but then it looks like maybe a half days work and my motivation is meeting another video shopper and seeing how they work. BTW, I'm taking my own vehicle regardless, I'm the worst passenger ever!!!!

Might have to get that camera equipment at some point. I handled four days in Cincinnati and did 7 2 1/2 hour shifts of exit interviews plus the reporting on 22 shops. Phew! Wondering if Ken and I could travel together and do new home shops and other stuff together as a "couple". We have the same last name and can pull off the couple act since as brother and sister we know each other so well. Just pondering about the future and hoping that I can get back into doing a few things even though I can't drive. Ken is still looking for full time work though so we'll just see what develops.

Wow ib! Good job. Sounds like you are lucky to have Ken around. I cannot imagine being on the road w/ my brother for days. More power to you.
He really watched out for me. When I needed to rest a bit during those exit interviews, he spelled me and let me sit for a few minutes. Then I'd get back up and keep at it. After an ice storm on Friday night those folks in Cincinnati didn't feel much like sliding their way to the Golden Corral so there weren't that many diners there. It all worked out. We had a great room at the Comfort Inn a block away with free breakfast, a fridge and microwave so we saved a bunch of money. It was a profitable trip for both of us.

Were these shops that you booked individually as a route or a group thing? Just curious. I amin NOhio. No ice here. In fact today near 60 and an adequate amount of sun. woo-woo!!
I found the exit interviews in Louisville first and he did ten sessid one. Then I expanded my search and found the ones in Cinci. Then I found 4 convenient stores to do on the way there and three gas stations and 4 cell phone stores.
The first day paid for our motel, food and gas. The next tbree days were all profit and taxes.
One of my strengths was in putting routes together. This one fell in my lap (top). L
