reality based group weirdness

Sounds like you are taking care of business in and around the Ville, Bless! I like how you set up the route!

I have been shopping in L'ville since 01. What is one of your favorite shops in the area?

Did you ever shop the restaurant at the top of the building off of the Watterson?

I did that one and wrote and wrote and wrote and wrote...lol

BTW, did you ever get hooked up with the OC Pizza Shop?

I never found the OC Pizza. I really want that one since I live right around the corner and my brother loves to eat there. They also have WiFi and I can sit on their patio and work for hoursn nice weather.

I've not done the top of the building shop which I assume is RCSH? Up by Breckenridge Lane?

I enjoy some of the restaurant shops that are not fast food but not too "fine diningish". I'm just not into the Galt House/High Class kind of place. I'd rather kick back for good Mexican Food or a sports bar and wings. I'm about sick to death (literally) of Arches but fortunately for the pocket book, my brother loves to eat there so he can do all of 'em for all I care. lol I'm sticking to places where I can order a healthy meal that is big enough to bring home part for a second meal. Last Christmas (2010) I did a bunch of O'Charley's and those were great. I haven't seen them since though.

Outside of the restaurants, I guess I enjoyed doing a competitor series that included the client and six other assisted living places. I got to practice my acting skills and scenario building for a couple of weeks and got really good at it. I'm not sure I appreciate the title but Ken calls us "Professional Liars". lol That experience set me up for being able to create believeable scenarios that get me through every time. Now I'm doing assisted living phone shops. After doing the calls I have to call back and reveal and every one of the targets says..."Wow! You're good!" lolol

My favorite thing though was not a specific client, rather a process that really paid off when I was doing all my own shopping and is now paying off for Ken and I. That is the skill of building profitable routes. I'm being able still to build those routes and keep him busy shopping and me busy administrating. I don't do much on-site anymore other than maybe a restaurant or a bank lobby shop...things that don't keep me on my feet long.
Ken and I worked together last month and did four of those airport taxi shops. Those require a partner to drop you off and are easy and profitable so we really like those. I did get a hostile cab driver one day that was mad because he stayed in the taxi line for 5 hours on a snowy day and then only got a fare to Preston Highway. He wouldn't let me pay and wouldn't give me a receipt. Back to the airport we went and "did 'er again" with a different driver. I was only out a little time and gas.

Routes that come together where I can do one side of town and get the post offices, breakfast, lunch, bank teller shops, cell phone stores and auto inquiries are the most profitable. All those shops are quick and easy usually and the reports are not noxious. Paired and tripled up with anchor shops that pay more can make me tickled pink. Now that I spend my time administrating and sitting on my kiester....I find great shops. Many are rotation shops though so I hope we don't step on your toes too badly.

Other than our trip to Cincinnati a couple of weeks ago we haven't gone out of town since we started working together January 6th. Monday we are going as far as Carrolton. I've been wanting to go there to the outlet stores anyway because I can buy 14L blue jeans there. lol We were going to Anchorage, Pewee Valley, Crestwood, and Lagrange anyway so a bonused Jackson-Hewitt in Carrolton worked right in.

By Tuesday we have ten post offices, 8 storage lockers, a new car shop, two Jackson-Hewitt audits, another mattress store, two bank teller shops, two Skyline Chili's, two Arches, a Tumbleweed, and oil change and stuff is still rolling in. I'm hoping an outlet store shop stays on the board until tomorrow so I cab grab it for Monday.

Just got a call from our Dad and he needs a ride to the VA to get an xray. Ken has to take off and get him and drop him off. He'll go shop and then go back. Every minute counts when the schedule is this full. Gotta get him ready to head out the door.

I live close to the OC Pizza off of Hurst. I enjoy going there and would like to shop them sometime also. Have you ever gone there for the buffet? It is open every day from 11 - 2. I use the Wifi on my phone when I go there.

Yes, that is the one off of Breck. I remember it seemed to be shopped quarterly and I got one back in 07 or 08. I haven't really seen it since though. Nice reimbursement and excellent food, but all of the writing was killing me!

I feel the same on the dining. I am fine going to the bar at a TR or BH and having a nice dinner. Usually always great service and not to bad of a write up. ;-)

I always see those and have wanted to try the taxi shops. Having a companion to assist with that really helps. My luck with the taxis are pretty good, but as always, there are usually some characters that make it interesting at times!

I have always been a part time shopper but really haven't been shopping as much the past 4 - 5 months. I had a job that paid me mileage me to travel all over the area and I would try to always pick up a shop or two on the way to and where I was going. I upgraded my job though and don't really have as much time to shop anymore. ;-o

I now find myself looking at shops when they are emailed to me as is it worth my time to do that! I never thought I would look at it like that, but I try to stay focused on my new job. I see one every once in awhile that I like that I try to snag though. ;-)

I still have a part time job assembling the standees though. This pays good money and it is a pretty good work out! It is one that I have kept around just in case. Have you tried any of the standee work?

It sounds like you really stay busy shopping! From just looking at your writing, I can see why they want you to keep shopping! I am sure you get a lot of compliments on your writing, ;-)

The freedom that you enjoy in this line of work is awesome. Being able to set your own schedule, go where you want, and work as often or as little as you like has to be nice. Keep up the hard work improving service in the area for all of us!

Have a great Super Bowl weekend,

Tim
Okay totally off the subject. Back in the 90's the largest steeplechase in the country was in KY and I can't recall whether it was Hardscuffle in Louisville or High Hope in Lexington. Is it still going on?

You got me but I would almost bet that it was going on in Lex, but I am not for sure on that. I would almost have to Google to tell you for sure. ;-o

I bet some of my friends involved in horses could tell you though!
I resorted to Google and found out Hardscuffle was in Prospect and ended in '96. I had it mixed up with the Iroquois in Nashville which is still going strong, oops!

No problemo Senorita Lisa. Esta bien, ;-)
@toolguy,

I live directly behind the Stonybrook shopping center. We'll have to meet at the OC someday for the buffet. lol

I don't do much of the onsite work anymore except for restaurants and things that only take a few minutes on my feet. Someone else has to drive too. But I still write do a lot of reporting. Even if it's just typing what Ken says. His writing is much more "professional" than mine. He was a six figure salesman and entrenched in the selling process for many years. He relates to all those "did they try to close the sale" questions and the clients are eating it up.

I've never been to Ruth Chris' at all much less for a shop. I was away from Louisville for many years when I was working in my career and now that I'm back I can only afford to eat at nice places if I'm doing a shop or have a Groupon.

Need to get back to work. I have six more reports to write before sleeping.

This was the letter they sent. Being part disabled and not working, I answered "Yes" almost at once. Still, for my area, I would have had to partner with a lady, and she may have felt uncomfortable. Next week I will do shop #97 and #98 for RBG and I am excited to be so close to #100. To me, that will be a milestone! I would like to start doing vid's and had 100 Questions for the person if I had gotten picked.

Subject: New Opportunity in Your Area! Please Read Carefully Before Responding

Hello.

Reality Based Group is now offering a new and exciting opportunity in your area.

The video side of our company is looking to bring some written shoppers into the
mix. We have a video scout that will be in your area next week (2/14 - 2/18)
and we need to find shoppers who can assist with some shops in the areas below.
During this opportunity you will go with the scout to the locations they are
assigned and just be there to assist the video scout. You will not be required
to do anything really, just be there with them, they will be doing the actual
shop. Normally they do these shops alone and the company has decided to mix it
up and have the scout take a guest. Each scout will be in town to complete
shops in your area. The specific amount of shops you will be doing is noted
below.

Before you do the shops with the scout, there is a process. Once you are
chosen, you will be in contact with our video support and the president of
Reality Based Group at our home office to make sure you understand what is
required. You will need to be available to meet with the scout 2-3 days in a
row to visit all the locations with the scout. You will meet up with the scout
before doing the first shop and they also will provide you with a rundown of
what exactly will be happening during your visits.

NOTE - if you are not available to do commit to the specifics below, please do
not apply. Each visit you make with the scout will pay you $8 and once the
visits are complete, when the scout returns to our office, you will be paid via
paypal within 2 business days. The total amount will depend on the number of
shops completed with the scout.

One last thing, if you feel comfortable with the scout after meeting with them,
you will be allowed to drive with the scout in the rental car so you don't have
to use your own fuel. This will be up to you, but fuel will not be reimbursed.
Our scouts are completely professional and should not at all make you feel
uncomfortable. Below are the demographics for each location that I am looking
for. If you are interested and available to help with any of the locations
below, please respond with your name, email, phone number and location you are
available for. Specifics and questions you have will be answered once assigned.
Thank you in advance, I look very forward to hearing from you.

Buffalo NY - 11 visits on 2/15 and possibly 2/16 - Scout is Caucasian male in
30s

Youngstown OH 4-7 shops on 2/18 (from Youngstown to Warren) Scout is Caucasian
male in 30s

Tulsa OK - 7-8 shops on afternoon of 2/14 and morning of 2/15 (Tulsa/Broken
Arrow/Claremore area) - Scout is Caucasian female in 50s

Reading PA - 4 shops on day on 2/15 - Scout is African American male in 40s
