Meeting schedulers

Has anyone been required to meet a scheduler face to face prior to being accepted as a shopper?

Have you?

Then I guess the next question would be, what company? I know there are several companies that have training at the clients physical location prior to assigning shops.

This company want to meet me at a location, not their office, have me do the report based on the shop and submit the report to see if the company will accept me.
Can you give the name of the company and how it came about. Did you register on their website?

Really? Are they sending you a plane ticket and hotel reservations? If so, hook me up.
For some high-end hospitality companies, that's not unusual.

I've been advanced pay to fly across the country for training before, but I also submitted samples, a resume and had a phone interview first.

Yes me too - more than once.

To the OP - while I do not think it is unusual for a certain type of shop - I do think it might raise my eyebrows if we are talking about a $10 shop at the mall. Maybe some more context about the situation would help us help you?
I was thinking about a particular experience you told me about when I saw that that post, MickeyB.

Were your ears ringing?
I totally forgot and mentioned in OP other post I hadn't heard of it.
I did fly to Vegas to view a video and hand in papers when applying to
join a company there, that was the only time.

Live consciously....
I have never had that experience before. I have talked with many schedulers and booking agents over the phone in the past, but never met one of them in person.
