CORI-gas shops

Hi, As I am entering the summer mind set and thinking about that extra cash, I am considering picking up some of these when they hit the $10 mark. Anybody wanna warne me or give me any tips. Are they hard. I used to do the old ones with 4 pics but now they want pics of all the pumps.

it depends on your area how high they will go.
Hopefully you have been tracking some and
know what they generally get to before
doing them.

Also, if they are in your immediate area, look
and see when you drive by how many pumps
the station has. The less, the better.

I've done shops where they only had 2 pumps.
I did one once for 50 that was a rest stop,
and had over 20 pumps. Probably never again
even for 50.

Depends on how many pictures you have to upload of pumps and observed issues.

I can input them in 15 minutes. techman provided good advice about checking out how large the station is and I will add this, try to know how compliant the station is as well. I don't like them unless they are at least $20 and a non-compliant station or super busy station needs to be higher. I'm quick with the photos, but uploading a bunch extra can get tedious and add 10-15 minutes more to the report. As much as I hate working weekends, the commission was bumped up at a large station 4 minutes from a personal errand on Sunday. The station is normally busy, but on a cloudy and chilly Sunday afternoon I didn't see 5 cars the entire time I was there. An added bonus is all the stores owned by this franchisee are virtually perfect.

Yep, condition of location and number of pumps determine input time.
Create a template document for yourself to provide a copy and paste sentence for each question where there is no deficiency.
Check your Cori price increase emails to see what price a location was at the last time it was in an email. With few exceptions, you could consider that the current going price for that location.
$10 seems pretty low, but if you've got a lot of competition in your area, it could be right.
I take the yellow shops for $13 on up and the blue shops for $17.50 on up. Mostly on the "on up" side.

Why do you comment on areas that dont have an issue?

That is one of the best things about a compliant station regardless of the size!

Please don't tell me I've done over 600 GS shops for Cori, and entered a comment into every blinking narrative box on every blinking one of them, no matter how perfect the location has been!
Please don't tell me that at 5-10 minutes extra per shop that this has cost me, quite literally, 2-4 entire days of my life.
Please don't tell me that.
But you've already implied it, haven't you?
I'm going to go throw up.
Sorry to be the bearers of bad news. Try to look at it this way, it will save you time on the next 600 shopswinking smiley

OK. I'm done throwing up. And I'll try to be thankful for the time saved on the next 600.

Tech and Lisa (and veteran shoppers all) -
What is protocol regarding comments for questions where there is no deficiency?
None needed for these two clients? None needed for Cori in general? None needed for most MSCs? All MSCs?
I've been operating for 3 years with the premise that unless instructions say comments are only needed for "No" responses, then comments are needed for all responses.
I'm a relative newbie here, but unless they say comments are required for all, or won't let me pass the field without a comment, I assume comments are only needed for ALL negatives, and if something merits explanation.

Okay, I'm another time waster. I always comment on every narrative box for the CoRi stations. I thought it was required. I've only done one of the "photo of all pumps" audit, but back when it was the easier way, I seem to remember that they changed it and required narrative for all answers. Now, the yellow/blue ones, I'm not so sure, but I will try not putting anything in with the next one and see if it goes through. I seem to think the form prompts me for a comment, but maybe that was another client.

So, for those who do the "photo of all pumps" report, you don't enter anything in the box under compliant questions and the report goes through and there's no follow up? Just confirming. I've been thinking about doing these again, but it's such a PITA with the photos since my camera doesn't put the date on the pix.

If a comment is required you will be prompted to enter one after hitting submit. Otherwise, it is not required. The only reason I have ever been contacted is with a photo issue, never about a lack of comments.

The yellow/blue cori shops require you to write something in some of the
comment boxes that is 10 characters. That is it. That means 5 words will do
on those boxes.

The all photos audit requires no comments unless there is a negative issue.

I think there are only two summary boxes on the CoRI gas station reports that require a sentence or two.

Thanks all. The next round starts tomorrow, and so do the next, and much faster, 600.
There are a ton in my area and I would like to start doing these, but for $6-8 it seems like way too much work, especially since most stations in my area have 10-12 pumps. When will I see an increase? Later in the month?
Yes, Gina, the CoRI gas stations will start going up probably starting sometime in the next week. No way is $6 or $8 a decent fee. Wait.

I have been doing them for over a week and the lowest fee was $14.14 and I just got two at over $24. Alas I too have been guilty of a comment in every box. And I have run out of ways to say "it's all good" so I'm glad I read this post. smiling smiley

On another CORI issue, was I seeing things or was there a ton of gas shops for another company that is blue, and a little gold and isn't the moon.....hope that passes the ICA TEST.....that disappeared for May? Was I the only one that (allegedly) saw them? Any idea what happened to them?

Any help is appreciated. smiling smiley
Nope, they're not back on the board yet since the end of last month. They reset the training for them, but I don't know why that would keep them off the board. Anyone hear anything from Cori as to when they'll be back?
I spoke to a CORI scheduler who told me they, blue and gold, would be back last Friday. They are revamping the report. However, as of today, I still don't see them posted.

Edited to add: Just checked and they're posted, but at starting rates, sad smiley

I wouldn't do the gas stations if they were bonused up to $40. The folks here that have gotten the reports down to 15 minutes are amazing (and also veterans). It took me _forever_ to do that damn report. I was also one who made an entry into every box, though. I don't really wait for the submission, I figure I'm there, I'll get it done. It sounds like that's been a waste of my time, but so it goes. =)

I can also tell you that those photos (and that's really what took me all the time) need to be spot on! They say to take a picture of the _entire_ pump (and you need to have every single pump, don't forget one!!), so I took a few extra shots of each just to be sure I didn't screw them up. With the cropping and resizing, etc. etc. (and some folks' camera will do those things automatically, I have an older camera), they just take too long for me. =) I'd rather do bonused bank shops.

I can tell you one thing for certain-- $10 is way too low for this shop. You've gotten a lot of advice in this thread (a lot of good advice), but mine is this: Always be maximizing your potential. Always be earning what you're worth, what shops are worth. Be sure you're including _everything_ that's involved with running your own business, from having your own insurance, to keeping your car in good shape. That doesn't only help you, it helps the rest of us. =)

Sending the best,

Jen

No reason to take multiple for the one that requires every pump.
Set your camera preview to 3-5 seconds so you can look down

I said it before about resizing, and if you have a program that does
them in a batch, fine but it's not necessary.

Certainly no reason to crop the pump photo. If it includes more of the
island they won't mind.

Also, if there is a vehicle in the way, I don't wait until they leave and just take the photo
on an angle. The key to the photo is they want to see the promo that is on
top and also the gas company logo. They dont care about the rest unless
you marked an issue, then a separate photo of that is needed...

Ditto to everything Tech said, and ditto to JT estimation of worth - please wait till the every-pump audits go well above $10.
I am the unlucky one who gets cars blocking pumps so completely there is not way to get a shot. The only good thing is my tendency to be assertive. I once had three pumps fully blocked by a couple of trucks. After finishing everything else without a change, I went inside and found the owners who were just chitchatting away. A big smile and a "Would you guys do me a huge favor?" resulted in them being moved right away. One of the guys actually thanked me because he had a dentist appointment and couldn't get his friend to shut up, lol!

Hey tech, thanks! Those are good things to know. I tried to ask a scheduler at CORI, but the girl I spoke with didn't have _any_ idea and wasn't too keen on getting me to a person who did. (;
