Paypal issues - unclaimed?

I recently did 4 assignments for a company I have shopped for successfully before. They were supposed to pay me for them last week via Paypal. They've always used Paypal to pay me before and there have never been problems.

This time, however, I haven't received any payment. The MS company said that they have made the payment and it is showing up as unclaimed and that there is nothing more they can do from their side. So, I contacted Paypal support and they are only confirming that the address is set up to receive payment. They say the company should call them. I forwarded Paypal's response to the MS company yesterday, but I haven't heard anything back I don't understand why Paypal will not confirm whether there is an unclaimed payment out there or not. All they do is say that the email address is okay (on 2 occasions). They won't respond further. I honestly feel like both are passing the buck.

Has anyone else dealt with a problem like this? Were you able to resolve it? If so, how? Thanks for any help!

It sounds to me like the MSC might have mistyped your email address and sent your money to the wrong place. Paypal wouldn't be able to tell you anything about where the MSC's money went since the recipient info doesn't match you. All they would be able to say is that your info is OK and the MSC should contact them. Hopefully, the MSC will contact PayPal and clear things up quickly.
I had that happen with an MSC and they corrected it on their side. I believe they had to take the unclaimed funds back and resubmit it
Thanks for the responses, guys. I will follow up again with the MSC. I hope it's a simple issue with my email. address.
No reason for a payment to have to be claimed unless the email address used is not registered or active. Payments post automatically to registered accounts.

I had the same thing happen to me about 6 months ago. When the MSC told me I did not claim my money and PayPal sent it back to them, I told her that we don't have to claim our money so something else is up. When I kept calling and emailing the MSC, she finally really checked in to it and found that their payroll had sent it to PayPal using my email address but with .com and not .ca at the end. It did take about a month to get cleared up but I finally got my money.
I've emailed the scheduler twice this week. but so far I haven't gotten an answer. My feeling is that they probably entered in my email wrong and need to redo the payment, but it is frustrating not hearing back from her. I was hoping to have that money soon to take my husband out for his birthday.
I emailed the scheduler again this week, and still she has not given me any answer. I've done job for this company for several years and never had a problem. I am really surprised that I am being completely ignored by them. Any advice?
Well, I am finally making progress. I filled in the support form on their website and was contacted by someone asking for more details. I responded with the requested information. Today the scheduler finally got back to me. She sent a screenshot of the error from paypal. They had used an ancient email that I used when I first did some assignments for them. It's strange, since for the last several years they have been sending my payments to another email. As soon as I stopped using the old address, I informed the scheduler I dealt with at the time that I was not using that address anymore and let her know the new address to use. I don't know how that old address popped up after several years.

So, I just wrote to the scheduler and told her what the problem was. I told her that, from my understanding, is that they would need to reclaim the payment and then send it to the correct email. Hopefully they will do that soon. It is annoying, though, because weeks ago I asked her if she could please confirm what email address the payment had been sent to, but she never got back to me. Had she responded, this would have all been resolved much more quickly.
