What are audits / merchandising shops?

What's an audit shop?

What may be included in merchandising? I've seen only one ad and it looked awful. Do they pay hourly? Would they tell you if they're looking for long-term part time help or short-term? I wouldn't want to unwittingly get stuck in a long-term job.

They seem to be real upfront. I worked in a gas station once and people there did the magazines (merchandising) They seem to pay by the job, They put you on a route say 5 stores- biweekly-between 45 and 1 hour per job- 10$ per job with a gas allowance. I don't want to do it. Too much hassle for me. Audits is used loosely, some MS companies say audits instead of shops, and others audits means count the clothes on the rack or show up at a resturant while they are unloading the truck and get the temps of the food coming off the truck. I do like demos, they are well paid, don't last too long and are self explainatory most of the time.
Thanks, Kristee. I would prefer revealed jobs to constantly worrying about hiding my identity. Going to look at a few.
Audits are typically revealed, and you are either checking to see if things are as they should be or you are certifying something. Half my shops are audits.

Merchandising is when you actually put the stuff up for a particular company, usually on a special display (think of the cardboard stands in Walmart). So are terrifically easy, but beware. I once did a four hour turned into 8 hours because I didn't have the information I needed shop, and it was bad. I do not do merchandising, it is more physical than mental and like putting together a puzzle with one tenth the pieces missing.
