Maritz is on fire... 4alarm fire at their building

Firefighters said they are battling a four alarm fire at Maritz in Fenton.

Authorities said the fire broke out at the 1365 building Thursday night. Maritz said the building primarily houses research and IT facilities. The building was evacuated even though the company said it does not believe employees were on the fourth floor at the time.

Maritz said all employees inside the building were not hurt.

Yeah, I was going to try to prevent confusion and say she probably meant "injured" but I figured someone would jump my back for telling someone what to post.

There are two types of people in this world: Those who can extrapolate from incomplete data.
LOL, I wasn't even thinking of "injured" since techman said no one was hurt.

BBird, it has been one of those days, I'd like to start over. I have contemplated taking my fuzzy critter for a late evening stroll.

I had one of those days too. To sum up a small part of it.. I put the bleach in the fridge and the milk in the laundry room.

I don't know where my mind is today, but it sure ain't with me.

Plan the work. Work the plan.
I know how that feels. I have put my cell phone in the fridge before. I looked for a long time, finally called myself and was stunned to find it the fridge.

That was some time ago though. Now when I look for my cell phone I look in my fridge first.

I read this:

FENTON • Multiple fire companies responded Thursday night to a four-alarm fire at Maritz Inc., 1365 North Highway Drive off of Interstate 44 near Fenton.

No one was hurt and the fire was quickly extinguished; firefighters never saw flames but did find a smoldering area on the roof, officials said.

Central County Emergency 911 Dispatch received a call at 7:43 p.m. On arriving, firefighters reported finding smoke on the fourth floor. Additional fire companies were called in to fight the heavy smoke and prevent its spread on the Maritz campus.

At 9:45 p.m., firefighters were up on the roof and spraying water to cool down the structure.

A fire official at the scene said firefighters would be systematically checking each floor, and putting fans on each floor to help dissipate the smoke.

The building on the north side of I-44 is the research building on the 174-acre campus.

Michael Arnhart, fire chief of the High Ridge Fire protection distict, said his department got a call about 8:15 p.m.

Arnhart said there was a smoldering area on the roof of the research building. He said firefighters never saw flames, but they quickly put water on the building to knock down the smoke. He said there were about 75 firefighters on the scene.

Fewer than 30 people were evacuated from the building.

Maritz spokeswoman Jennifer Larsen said she was not sure workers could return to that building on Friday but that there are plenty of other locations on the corporate campus for them to work.

What part of roof construction needs clarification?

@ CANADAMOMMY ~ You need to take a chill pill! According YOUR post, it says MIGHT be the culprit. Until the investigation is over, accident vs. arson vs. Mother Nature vs. faulty roofing materials, are all possible causes. There is no need to be so snarky for a simple inquiry. The majority of your posts have a negative feel to them. Get over yourself and have a glass of wine.

Besides... I think dixiewhiskey was merely using dark humor. Especially since there's a good share of people, just on here, who appear to dislike Maritz.

Someone needs a humor detector. It was a bit of dark humor, but humor nonetheless. Sheesh.

But this is a trend with your posts. I think the only recent supportive posts of yours was after the riots in Ferguson, MO. But that was not really related to MS'ing either. Even putting your forum name in ALL CAPS says a lot. The End.

I drove by the Maritz complex today. From the highway there was no sign of any damage.

I thought the building is actually one toward the back of the property. I'm not sure it would even be visible from the outer road because of the cluster of buildings on the campus.

I have a sick sense of humour... Where I am from, people have started fires to businesses because of personal feuds. One year two different gold places went up in smoke because businesses were feuding with each. Another year someone threw a Molotov cocktail because they felt the business owner ripped them off on a gold exchange. For the most part though, Torontonians are super kind people

Are you preggo? I wasn't saying anything bad about the company.. Given our line of work and the difficulties we face, it would not surprise me if someone did that. Children are kidnapped, women raped, people murdered everyday. People struggle to pay the light bill. Don't be naive.

The schedulers are in Overland Park, Kansas. The checks come from St Louis. The forms I get for the green stations come from Overland Park.

Hope they are ok. Have really come to like Maritz, even if they annoy me with phone calls.
