PayPal

I am hesitant about joining PayPal.Who pays them to act as a bank? I know it's free to join, my concern is that a percemtage will be deducted from some of the meager assignments I accept. For example--if my job pays $20.00 and it's deposited to PayPal, how much will I net? Thanks in advance

Nope. If you set up a personal account and are using it only to receive payments for your work and then transferring the money on along to your bank you will see no expense.

They make the majority of their money, I would assume, by their work with eBay where there are fees to the seller for receipts. They also have their own debit card, where I doubt you are earning much (if any) interest on the money they hold with that
As long as the ms company pays you via mass pay........there will be no fees.
Once a company paid me by cc and I paid a fee........when I notified the company, they paid me what I had taken out as a fee. Of course, I have a premier acct.

I have the debit card w/paypal and really like it.........I get 1% back when I use it as a cc. Not a lot but adds up.(Since I have had it,,,,received total of $52 cash back in my paypal acct) I use the paypal money for all shops that I can use a cc. Sorta recycling my ms money.

You can always transfer the money from your paypal to your bank acct. You can request a check from paypal but they charge (i think) $1.50 for the check to be issued so waste of money.

I just swing the cash over to my bank, which usually takes 3-4 business days max to get there. Then I just use my other cash back credit cards and pay the bills from the bank account. Either way costs you nothing, both work well. I have never seen a fee charged for my Paypal account when used with MSing.
Paypal is owned by Ebay. They also make money on the fees charged to sellers there. And many other websites now take payment through Paypal. It keeps your regular credit card and your bank account number secure. I like their arrangement. The little checks I get by snail mail from some MSP's don't go into the bank until I have a few.
Reading all your info on PayPal. Gathering info here before I start signing up for MS jobs.
How do you initially sign on with PayPal? Am looking to avoid any start up fees of any kind as my husband is critical of anything I do where I'm spending money before I make any. Is that just wishful thinking? Do you guys open up a charge card just for MS purposes? Again thinking my husband would freak if I start running up charges on our credit card.

Any specific advise for me you might wish to send,
Thanks a bunch!

PayPal sign up is at paypal.com. For a personal account there is no charge to set up or use the account for transactions such as receiving shop payments. I use existing credit cards but if you have no existing credit cards it would make sense to get one as many shops specify that you MUST pay by credit card. There are no expenses that you MUST have to start mystery shopping, especially if you have a computer and printer already and a watch that is either digital or has a sweep second hand. I even know of people who mystery shop without having a car--talk about making things complicated.
Go to Paypal.com and sign up for it. If you plan to use it for mystery shopping, use the email address you use for your mystery shopping as most companies want it to be the same address they contact you with. There are different ways to retrieve your money. I choose to withdraw to my bank account, so for this I needed the 9 digit routing number and my account number at the bank. This is on the bottom line of your checks (do not use a deposit slip as the numbers may be different). Other folks get a debit card from Paypal so they can just spend the money that accumulates there. For a fee (I think) you can have Paypal send you a check. If you sign up as an individual account there are no fees involved in receiving your payment and moving it on to your bank. I believe there may be fees with the business account but all that is spelled out on the website.
I JUST BECAME A MYSTERY SHOPPER THE 2ND WEEK OF MAY, I DID ABOUT $200 WORTH, I AM A PAYPAL MEMBER, I AM READY TO BE PAID. THAT WILL INFLUENCE AND ENCOURAGE ME TO CONTINUE. I HAVE DID ABOUT $150 FOR THIS MONTH SO FAR. A LITTLE SLOW AT SIGNING UP FOR JOBS BECAUSE I AM PATIENTLY WAITING TO SEE A RETURN. I HAVE DONE JOBS FOR BARE, BEYOND THE MIRROR-HELLO, RETAIL EYES, AND INTELLI-SHOP. PLEASE HELP. THANKS.
