Hi. I haven't even shopped yet. I just got called today to go to Wal-mart to take pictures of the snack area and some other things she would want me to do. I am not even sure what this job entails. Also she told me it pays $15.00 per store visit. Is that an average pay? I asked her how long it takes and she said about 1/2 hour. She said I would have a form where I would have questions to answer. I have no idea what I got myself into!! She said I would need to go every Monday for 12 weeks.

Well the pay is certainly in line with most mystery shopping which can run anywhere from a couple of bucks to about $20 on average. Make sure the company is on the Official List at the bottom of each page and that the "assignment" does not involve being paid in advance and/or sending money to anyone else. No MS assignments will pay you in advance or ask you to send money to someone else.

Have her send you the job so you can read the requirements. I would like that job if you don't want it LOL

Hi, just gathering info as this seems a lot more complicated then when I did this 10-15 years ago. Is there a way to find out which companies have which clients so you don't sign up with dozens and dozens of them only to find out you don't like any of the "shops" they offer. Is that a dumb question? Yesterday I filled out an application with BestMark and they emailed today saying I was accepted, so now I need to check out the job postings I guess? But I just read that some people are having problems with them...I will accept all free advice!! thanks

Just because you have signed up with a company, you never have to apply for jobs that you don't want. If you log in and check out the job board, and none of the jobs appeals to you, just close the job board without requesting anything, and move on to something that interests you more.

That's right, check their job postings. If you don't like those jobs, sign up with more companies. I've done a couple of jobs for BestMark. They paid on time.

If you are looking for a company that nobody ever claims to have had an issue with, you won't work much. Read the threads and look for the balance while ignoring controversial Subject headers and poorly written posts that accuse without offering any real information.

Welcome to mystery shopping! I hope you enjoy yourself, even as you make a few bucks. As for the assignment you have been scheduled for, I would encourage you to read (and then re-read!) the instructions and ask your scheduler plenty of questions. Schedulers are used to dealing with a variety of questions on a daily basis and would much prefer a shopper who wants to be well-educated on the assignment.
