oil change shops

I was wondering if oil change shops are usually pretty easy to complete. One of the MSC I am registered with has a Jiffy Lube shop and I just happen to need an oil change. I've done a few restaurant shops, but have never done an oil change. Besides rating the customer service, what other kinds of questions or observations do they require? Thanks for any help!

Very simple. I have not paid for an oil change sine 2005.

They were easy and simple report.
But since I bought a new car a few years back I am stuck with the dealership for oil change so the warranty don't get void.

Cherise - Maybe, but maybe not. Read that warranty carefully. You may be OK to get service elsewhere as long as you keep proper documentation. Over the lifetime of the car, you will save big bucks if you can shop for free oil changes. Worth looking into, and good luck.

Is it just because you need synthetic oil? Because what happens if the dealership went out of business? I ask because that is what I found when I bought my new car. It requires synthetic oil and the warranty would be void if I had anything other than synthetic put in. But they didn't say that I had to bring it back there.

I have never shopped Jiffy Lube but does the shop reimburse for synthetic oil?

Most do not reimburse for synthetic oil BTW, it is illegal for the warranty to be voided for not using the dealership. And illegal to tell you that it will be voided. But, do keep your service records. The nice thing about Jiffy Lube (and some other quick oil change places) is that you can get a printed record of all of your services at any of their sites, since the data goes into a central data base. Or, just toss the invoices into your glove box after taking a photo to upload!

Edited for typos!

Synthetic oil I use but I had the option to use regular oil. I get better mileage using synthetic oil.
The dealer said I needed to do my oil change there so it would not void the warranty.
Also most oil change shop you need a vehicle which has more than 35,000 miles.

I have never seen a Jiffy Lube shop that required a minimum number of miles on the car! Some have a maximum, but it is way, way high.

Observations typically include timings of the various stages of the service, names of persons that interacted with you, what services, options, add-ons, etc., were offered, did they use one of those paper thingees on the floor of your car, bathroom check, and details in the waiting room/area.

I find them relatively easy. Go for it! smiling smiley

Happily shopping Rhode Island and nearby Massachusetts and Connecticut
I could use a Jiffy Lube, but none of my MSC uses Jiffy Lube, suggestions on who I need to add to my repertoire?
Seek and you will find it. We can't tell because of our ICA's.
