I am from San Francisco originally, now living in L.A. Welcome and enjoy the forum, tons of info. here about companies to work for...do your research, you've come to the right place. When I started I didn't know about forums for the first couple of years, just found good companies by trial and error.

Hi! I'm a ms in San Leandro, CA. I've been a ms off and on for over 30 years. I was at the part-time job bulletin board at CSUH (now CSUEcool smiley. I saw a a sheet of paper about mystery shopping. I called and I began my part-time ms career! I actually got paid to eat! Back in those days, everything was done by mail and phone.
I felt sorry for the ms editors as they had to call as personal computers and cell phone were in our future.

I MS out of Oakland too. Doing the EB, not crossing any bridges. Retired and just killing time and earning a little poker money. I'm a bad card player(LOL). Mainly just to get out of the house and the wife.

Good to read about our EB shoppers.
I, too, do mystery shopping in the East Bay area. As with many of you, I do it for a little extra money and visit places I would never have.
My favorite mystery shops are grocery stores and casual dining. Grocery stores are great as I usually buy what I need, and dining out on someone else's dollar is nice.
Depending on what is required for an auto dealership, I take the opportunity to get to know that dealership as I may return when I really need a new car.
I enjoy the freedom of pick and choose your assignments.
A lot of times for me when the paycheck or paypal that is issued (after 6 or 8 weeks), it is a surprise as I have forgotten that I did a shop.

I'm happy to shop in SF when I'm in the city for other reasons. I've even made mini routes where I shop as many stores in the Union Square area as I can in an afternoon. It more than makes up for a BART ticket. There's one specific food court location I shop nearly every month.
