sun glasses

Anyone merchandising sun glasses? I'm looking to find out how long the visits take vs. how well they pay. Have a offer for the 3 cities close to me, but it is a all locations or nothing offer and one of the locations is 20+ miles away. I'm trying to decide if it is worth the 40 mile round trip. Any info would be appreciated.

I merchandised sunglasses in the past until the company lost their contract. I had a 10 drum store and it took anywhere from 2-4 hours with weekly visits. I understand some companies take less time as they stock by style only, not specific place for each different one. Probably depends on which company but have heard good things about most.
Hi Cindy,
I work for Foster Grant. The pay is not great;however, there are many things I like about the job. It is actually one of my favorite merchandising companies. There is nothing heavy to lift, no pics required, and there reporting system is easy. I call on most of my stores every 28 days...including Dollar Generals, Family Dollars, Freds, RiteAid, Walgreens. I drive to one town that is an hour drive but I have seven stores within a five mile radius when I get there. My stores were in bad shape when I took them as some of them had not had a consistent rep in a while. Once I got them cleaned up as far as returns and got the inventory stabilized I can be in and out of most of them within 30 minutes, sometimes less. I have been with them a year and find in addition to regular monthly service of store there are always resets to do that give added income. You actually get on the job training instead of just being thrown in to sink or swim. I mystery shop and also work for other merchandising companies....most of the time I am able to plan my road trip to do multiple jobs in the same store for different companies thus saving on gas costs. There is no mileage reimbursement but some of the other companies I work for do reimburse for mileage. The mystery shopping helps also in that assignments are often bonused....Often, I may do a $12.00 service for Foster Grant in one of the small towns and be able to pick up a 30 to 40 dollar gas station audit or post office assignment for a mystery shopping company. Hope this helps. I am 65 so not having to lift and crawl around on the floor is a big plus.

This company also pays weekly which is a plus..

I know what you mean by "crawl around on the floor". I am also 65+, doing mystery shopping. Unfortunately, I have yet to land a decent merchandising job. I applied when the call was put out for Foster Grant merchandisers but did not get a reply. I have done over 50 mystery shopping jobs in 2013 but find that the pay for most does not even cover the cost of gasoline for my 1995 Honda. I live 35 miles from one large city and 50 miles from another so just getting there and back costs more than some of the shops pay. I have been working for Ellis, doing apartment manager evalulations but have to do at least 3 a day to make it work because a third of the pay goes to gas. Our society is not made for those who can't afford a new, gas efficient car.
I found a small 3rd party sunglass gig. It pays well. It is only every six weeks for 2 stores, 2 hour each. Thanks for the input everyone.

Do what in apartments? Are you asking about the door hangers? There is one listed here in merchandising right now.
I do sunglasses for RMS (Retail Merchandising Services) in Canada (they are an american company). They service Target stores and the visits are twice a week for 2 hours each.

They pay per visit/job $26.00 plus COLA (cost of living allowance) and there are many "one time services" added as well. Pay period is every 2 weeks with direct deposit and it includes your 4% vacation pay on every pay.

My training was done with in person with a district manager and I was supplied all training material plus gloves and dusters. Reports are submitted online through their portal and 1 photo is required per service (no biggy with my iPhone).

Overall, a good company to work for. I also work for Mosiac (my favourite company so far) as an entertainment specialist (merchandising rep) and you might want to read my review under Mosiac.
Starcodes...unfortunately, RMS no longer has the sunglasses contract in the US...they lost it effecting Jan. 1. 2014. I agree RMS is a great company but I decided to resign last month...since they lost the contract, the one time services just did not pay enough to cover my gas. I hated to quit as I love RMS and everyone I met or worked with there.
