I personally wouldn't recommend SPAR. I recently worked for them for about a month and it wasn't a positive experience. The pay is low and capped per hour. So say another company will typically pay say 13 an hour (and will pay for more than just one hour) for a service call in one store SPAR will pay only 9.25 for only one hour. The layout for the website is a little difficult to get around and they do have a conference call to help teach you how to navigate it...for no pay or "free". The instructions on what your supposed to be doing can be few and far between and since your not an employee...well they can drop you without notice like they did to me.
I spoke with my old DM's assistant two weeks ago and I explained that I was not able to take jobs that were outside of my city as I was too busy to leave my area and complete these jobs without any travel pay. I was told that I would get $10 a week to go to the next town over and if at any time I chose to not do them that was fine as they had someone else who could also do them and I would be able to keep my local jobs. Last friday I emailed them and let them know that the jobs further away weren't working out but I was available locally...low and behold my login information is now invalid and I am no longer an IC for them.

So long story short....just forget about them. Not worth the hassle.

That was their way of doing business 15 years ago, and I avoided them then. Looks like the same thing is going on with them still. I wonder how they stay in business with this attitude toward their IC's?
I have been working for them for about 2 months now and they are really nice. I am just starting this kind of work and they are treating me pretty good. I want to stick with them to get my years experience so I can get better job. At least this job is in my town . Dont have to travel.
When MF sold some of their stuff over to SPAR, I didn't agree to the change, because at the time I was unable to locate any further information. Regardless of that, I received a badge in the mail a few weeks later, as well as some paperwork for a $7.00 assignment that they expected to take "no more than 2 hours." I called to inform them that I was not interested in that, and that I never signed up for that. My explanation was that "You don't pick your assignments. We assign them to you." Great, but that's not helpful to me, when it doesn't fit in with my existing schedule. You can't just decide when I have to leave my house 2-3 days later to complete an assignment for a company I didn't agree to, when I might have other responsibilities previously. Furthermore, when I tried to cancel this assignment, I was treated as though I was ungrateful for the opportunity. I'm not really sure I follow that logic, since I explained the whole situation. They wanted me to mail back the materials on my own dime, and asked that I no longer use my badge (I'd never used it!)

I've never actually worked for them at all, but that's my experience.
I'm signed up with them (moved over from MF) but hardly ever get any assignments. I had to cancel an assignment with them once, maybe that is why. My name was even put on a list for one assignment, but when I sent the requested email to state I could do the assignment, it was not assigned to me. I wish MF would have not sold out to them. The audits/ merchandising are not too difficult, but I much prefer self-assign and MF's system in general.
I currently work with SPAR in the Baton Rouge area. They are the best! In fact I am on my way to complete an assignment now. Great company and they pay Bi-weekly, and always on time.
