I don't work for them. I'm glad it's working out for you. Who are some of their clients?
Isn't it an ICA violation and against forum rules to reveal the names of company AND client? Many merchandising companies also perform mystery shopping and vice versa. I have had to sign an ICA with every single type of company that I do work for. I have even had to sign a CA for my FT job.
Excuse me if I don't take your word for it, spicy1. You are not known for being the Forum Truth Meter.
This is the Merchandising part of the forum. Merchandising companies don't generally have the ICA to not name the client. They actually want the word out that they represent the client.

And you're reputation proceeds you (sp on porpoise) lol

I work for at least three merchandising companies and I signed an ICA with all three of them. I know you like to argue so I doubt you run your business by the rule book. Someday. Someday.
I've never heard of a merchandiser signing an ICA agreement or other agreement to NOT give out a client's name, nor a merchandising company requiring that. If that is part of your agreement then how do you tell Walmart (who you service for $10.50 an hour for Cast Force, right?) who you're there for? We are talking about naming or not naming the client, right?!

Based on your inexplicably inexhaustible power of persuasion by debasing anyone, I'm sure your "doubts" mean something to someone. Maybe your magical made-up one friend?
I did not mean to start an argument here.I was trying to show there is work around. It is NOT against anyone's rules anywhere to say who works for who with merchandising.I have done this work since 2005. Merchandising and mystery shopping are 2 different projects.

To anyone that is interested>>> I do dvd's at Tops markets for Movies You Buy. ...aka MUB. smiling smiley

Well, that explains our different experiences. I do not and will not shop or do work for or in a Walmart. It is like a science experiment gone horribly wrong.

@lucky7s, you did not start an argument here. spicy1 just likes to start arguments with me personally. Honestly, I think it is a waste of her time but if she has all this time to spare, more power to her.

Ha ha!! That made me laugh out loud, Sybil, because after working in 5 WMs regularly for several merch companies from 2007-2013, I TOTALLY understand that statement!! Much of the time it was crazy!!! Once in a blue moon, something actually went right!! But not too often.

If you are merchandising for a large company, you will have work in Walmart. Even when I only did dept store merch, we got sent in a couple times a year because it is the same product with different packaging,

Former mystery shopper, current merchandiser.
I always find it amusing when people declare they NEVER shop in Walmart.

Kinda elitist, well totally elitist actually. But then that was the intent of the comment.

Let me guess - you only patronize Target.

"Target" - the elitists' overpriced Walmart substitute.
I can't imagine working for 3 different Merchandising Companies, 10 hours a day-4 days a week, and not hitting a Walmart. But that's just me, lol. I defy anyone to name any Merchandising Company that does not require you/me to work in a Walmart, in fact. Let's see:
Acosta, Walmart / Unless you're on the Safeway/Albertson's reset crew (then you're making $11.00 an hour - nothing to exactly brag about).
Advantage: Absolutely Walmart bound
Crossmark: MOST definitely Walmart, without Walmart there would be no crossmark
Match Converge: Again, without Walmart they would be OUT OF BUSINESS!!!!!

The challenge is to mention any merchandising company that does not do work at Walmart, anyone?

You might want to get your facts straight and you might want to do a better job of stalking me. I have a FT job in the real world where I work 10-hour days, 4 days a week. I do not have the "luxury" of spending hours upon hours at Walmart. Very little of my side income comes from merchandising and most of my merc jobs are special projects that fit nicely into my hectic lifestyle. But that is just me and it works well for me. Have a nice day!

I did not say that I NEVER shop in Walmart. I actually stopped at one earlier this year because they had a Subway inside the store and I was hungry.

Is being called an elitist supposed to be an insult? That made me laugh. Thanks.

I am not a Target fan either but if I had to choose one, I would choose Target over Walmart. I like the color red. But that is my choice. Peace out.
I called and they said to call them at 201-853-9127. They will take the area where you live with contact info ....>> if and when they work for you they will contact you. smiling smiley
By the way, I had co-workers who worked at Target. Target's pay structure for a raise was 3 to 5 cents a hour. The 5 cents was on the high side of a raise.
Revealing the company you work for, if you are a merchandiser is in no violation that I am aware of. I wear a company name tag. So do other merchandisers. That gives everything away.
I currently do work for Focus Servicing. I perform monthly DVD/CD service visits in a well known drug store chain. Each visit is approximately 60-90 minutes. I take a monthly inventory of all product, straighten, and dust. There are returns and markdowns that are occasionally done. The visits are pretty straightforward and I have never had any issues with being paid. I started out doing just four stores and took advantage of an opportunity to pick up eight more that became available. One of the most important things in this assignment is developing a good relationship with the store manager. It will make your job much easier and your service visits more pleasant. This is really nice merchandising work to pick up and incorporate into your routes.
They are recruiting again. I got work at a Rite Aid in town where I live doing music cd's and dvd's. smiling smiley
Hi guys, I realize these posts are a bit old, but hopefully someone who has worked for Focus Servicing can help me out. (Specifically starrynight and lucky7s ). I did four different DVD servicing jobs for this company. Worked my butt off. These were my first Merchandising jobs ever, and with the learning curve, the first two stores took me a solid 3-4 hours to finish. This includes dismantling existing DVDs from A-frame and wall displays, sorting all DVDs by price point, applying two stickers (one on each side) to approximately 250 DVDs, dusting displays, etc.

I finished my last store on the 2nd of the month and had all my rebills & paperwork emailed to them on the 3rd. I've received two emails from them regarding payroll, however they completely missed two of the stores. I replied giving them details about my correct hours. My point is, I received this last email with my incorrect hours on the 19th of the month. I was also asked to merchandise an additional store on the 18th (via an email). Having not received any pay for my hours worked, I thought it best to hold off on accepting additional work from them.
Is their payroll always this "quirky"? How long was it before you were paid for your first jobs?
Thank you

I wanted to update my experience with this company. It was explained to me that my hours appeared to be incorrect because I had done my stores during two separate pay periods. I did receive my pay one day after my original post.

Having said all this, and considering my overall experience, (and the timely communication I received after stating my concerns) I would absolutely recommend working for this company.
I am glad that your experience with Focus has been positive so far! The initial visit to a store can be the most difficult for sure. Some of your stores may have been "a mess" because the previous merchandiser was not doing their job. The first initial inventory can be very time consuming but don't get discouraged. Once you have done your first inventory it will get easier.

As an example, you have broken down your price point of $6.99 DVDs. You then break this price category further down by UPC. You probably have anywhere from 5 to 10 stacks of DVDs. The trick is to place the DVDs back on the rack by stacks. I place the comedy UPC category on the shelf. Next, I place the horror UPC category next to it. Then I place the martial arts category next to that..and so on. When you go back to the store next month..the movies are sort of grouped together already on the shelf.

Focus also does DVD/CD returns from time to time. Take that opportunity to return product that will not fit on your racks. If any of the movies have cracks in the cases or torn plastic..return them. You may also find old holiday movies that did not get pulled such as Halloween or Christmas. Always make sure you have received permission from Focus before doing a return. They will let you know in your email instructions if returns are being done or not.

I hope that this information may help you!
