If you can get to a location, even by bus, crutches or skateboard, you don't smell too bad and you can semi read engrish, Hallmark will hire you and the work is super simple; it's a good foot-in to merchandising when you're new. Same with ATA, (who bought them out recently, I can't remember); you go into stores and hang product on clip strips. Are you looking for specific work or pay or???

Wow, @spicy1, I gotta say I'm stunned! I work for Hallmark and would never describe the RM job as you just did. ATA has nothing to do with Hallmark, so it's obvious you have no idea what you're talking about and thankfully are not an employee! Shudder!

I have worked for Hallmark as well. They pay minimum wage and provide minimum hours and expect maximum productivity. My experience is exactly how I described it. Maybe in your area there are merchandisers who can afford better on minimum wage at 6-17 hours a week? Not in mine and I live in one of the poorest states in the U.S!

ATA was mentioned as an accommodating company that also has pretty low expectations for experience in a merchandiser as I assumed the OP was asking. I didn't say ATA has anything to do with Hallmark except make the connection with what companies one can "start-out" in merchandising.

I'm not an employee, thankfully for me TOO, because I don't have to work for minimum wage as I am highly experienced.

A note to you: You know when there's those Holiday rush resets and extra stocking and Hallmark hires out to Crossmark and they send in their employees? Well, I'm on of those and they pay $17.00 an hour plus a bonus of $2 an hour if you complete all of the Hallmark hours you were assigned to. Take that up with the lovely and endearing Hallmark!!

I currently work for Coca-Cola. They're always looking for seasonal merchandisers in the summer. The pay is $13 an hour and they give you about 30 hours a week and mileage reimbursement. It's one of the best companies to work for as far as merchandising goes.

I work for American Greetings who is Hallmark's competitor. And, merchandising for them is the same as others have described for Hallmark. Although, I have looked at Hallmark job listings and I think their pay is a little lower. When I started with AG the in mid 2015, the pay was $12.25 per hour. But, by the beginning of the next year it went up to $15.34 and that's in the San Francisco Bay Area. However, I noticed that it varies depending on the city your work. One thing that must be said is that you aren't always free to work when you want as they will tell you. Work is assigned as specific assignments that have beginning and ending dates. Those dates can span from about a month or just one day. When it's the latter you only have that day to complete it, so you must go in to your store on that day only.

I've never seen AG or Hallmark pay any more than $8.50/hr in my area (South Carolina). But our cost of living is a lot lower than yours in San Fran.

Weird I've just seen some job postings for Hallmark for the first time. In the St. Louis area the pay is only $9.25 which is diddly here. They are trying to fill a location near me. Even the fast food restaurants have to start their workers around $10 or $11.

Yes, even Walmart starts out at $10 an hour. Why would you go to work in a Walmart stocking and resetting greeting cards, bags, balloons at $7.50 - $8.25 an hour and be treated like crap by the receiving clerk and housewares clerks that are earning more moolah?

I was interested in doing this until you said the stores treat you like crap.? really? I mean you are just there to do a short job that lessens their workload. I applied with a few companies but told them nothing less than $12 an hour and they all still responded and I am not in a big city or anything. We will see what becomes of this.

I have gotten 2 emails in the past week from Hallmark offering jobs in my area....starting pay is now $9.00/hr. (up from $8.25-$8.50 a year or so ago). Um...nope.

I do work for Survey.com through their Merchandiser app. You download the app in your phone's app store (apple app store, google, etc). I've completed over $1,000 in 6 months. They do store resets, display audits, price audits, POP placements, and more. It is very flexible, and you only apply for what you want to do. I've had only good experiences with the company. I worked for Modelez/Nabisco for a long time. I made $15/hour. I average 25 hours a week. I had to start at 4 in the morning though.

Wow, Modelez offered me $11.
