When everything goes wrong...

I am doing a route of hardware big box stores, and unfortunately they are doing a store-wide reset right now. What should take 1-2 hours is taking 4+. Add to that one scheduler who just doesn't understand why this is a problem, but "kindly" offered a bonus of $5 for my extra 1.5 hours, and another scheduler who said I wouldn't get paid AT ALL unless I can find the backstock that even the manager and merchandising supervisor can't find right now.

Oh, and I have 4 more locations due TODAY!

I'm taking a hedgehog break.

What do YOU do when it all blows up?

Depends on how much I am loyal to the company, and what they pay.

New client, low pay, F'em!

Old client, low pay, ask politely to find someone else.

Old client, high pay, suck it up, do it.
Old client, low pay, and I did ask them to cancel the remaining locations. But I was actually asking what others do to decompress on days like this. I went to Sonic for a cream slush.

The best part... I had another client at the same location. They paid me a $50 bonus for the extra time on their project!
I'm big on a bubble bath and a glass of wine. I also definitely appreciate some time away from my computer screen or phone; sometimes even driving with no GPS noise or music can be a calm escape I didn't realize I needed! By far my favorite escape from problems is to just go to sleep, though.

Also, Wendy's has $0.50 small Frosty's so I get one of each flavor, dump some granola or trail mix on as toppings, and gorge myself while pretending it's nutritious because of the add-ons, hehehe.

What is a cream slush? I think that a cream slush would help me tremendously!

Happy Camper
Sonic cream slushes are fruit slushes blended with ice cream, and they are woooonderful!
I have been know to write a letter of resignation and not send it. I am currently working for a company where the work is complicated and the training miminal. I have three store managers annoyed with me because I am new and the work was not being done before I came in. Two of them questioned how they were supposed to do their part of their job. This stresses me out more actually than the person who has threatened to kill me;my husband's confusion and the fact that a relative is dying from an infectous disease and Imay havecaught the same disease.

When I'm having a stinky shop, I power through it, making sure I try extra hard to get as much of it right as I can. When I get home, the whining, procrastinating, and stress eating begins. I tell myself if it's too terrible, I don;'t have to MS for that company anymore - just get this job done that I committed to doing.
When things go South, I go home and eat, maybe have a nice Vodka/tonic and "forget about it".

Live consciously....

It's amazing how much less stressful shopping seems once I've popped the vino.

I also get a nice amount of stress relief out of fixing/updating/reorganizing my spreadsheets of shops and planned shops. I love spreadsheets.
