FGX Always like this?

About a year ago, maybe two I applied for a job with FGX. They got back to me two weeks ago, assumed I was a woman based on my name, when I am a man.

I said sure, let's talk, informed them of their mistake in regards to my gender.

Now I haven't heard a word back from them.tongue sticking out smiley

Employers are squawking about candidates ghosting them, well it seems they've done the same to me after all I did was inform them of my gender.

I understand no one wants to talk sexual orientation in today's workplace, but be sort of hard if we had an interview to hide that little misunderstanding.

I know of at least three men who worked for FGX in my area.

Former mystery shopper, current merchandiser.
Yes, they have men working for FGX in my area as well. Consider yourself lucky. Not a company you really want to be working for... they can be very odd. The waste, alone, is odd. They have had me throw away more product than I have ever put out. To me, that is very odd. Why waste it? Why not give it to charity? Or to the Salvation Army or Goodwill? But to just break the glasses and toss in the garbage...? Odd.

I'm a guy, and I love my job with FGX. The work is pretty easy, and my manager is really great. No question it is a female-oriented work force, but there are plenty of males at both the territory and district levels. The waste issues are kind of crazy, but they obviously know their business model. I enjoy working with a quality product from a company that pays like a clock.
I like the positive feedback, anyone have an idea on how to get the local hiring manager's attention then?

Since I've sent two e-mails, and zero response.tongue sticking out smiley
They don't pay well, so maybe your asking price was too high.

I also hated the waste. I was told they used to donate them, but started seeing them show up at flea markets so they weren't really going to charity anyway.

Yes, I would also like to know. I currently service their brand at Target so familiar. That is odd about the waste though. Are these saleable glasses that are being trashed?
Brand new, some have never even been unpacked and placed on the sales floor.

Google to find your own link if you are really interested. Finding any legit company is not hard!

I have worked for FGXI for 5 years and I love it. Its easy and layed back when you get to know your stores and Managers. At one time I have 15 stores and but some have closed and changed, I still have 8. My DM is the best Guy in the world that's why I stay. He will help me anytime he can if I need it. Its nice to get out and around my city.
I haven't heard from them since April.

If they get mad at me for ghosting them, look in the mirror. In today's economy no one is going to wait several months to hear back from a potential job.
Yes, you are correct, not in this economy. Really strange though, since they advertise for labor all the time.

I am a merchandiser for a greeting card company and we also throw away/destroy lots of seasonal product. I was given the same reason for not donating when I asked about it. Having managed a homeless shelter for women and children I know how much those cards could mean to someone who cannot afford them but I just do as I am told.

Getting the local hiring manager's attention would depend on your locality. If you are willing to share your location, I would be willing to share an idea of how to get aholt of the DM for your area. What I have is a list for all DMs in my area, but since FGX is an international company, sharing my list maphap be a waste of time. This, of course, completely depends upon whether my sharing is, or is not, a violation of this forum's guidelines.

Also, my apologies for the delayed response.
