I never knew this lawsuit was happening. I wish I could have gotten in on it.
I'm not surprised that they're being sued. Driveline is one massive screwup.
They have some ridiculous fiasco nearly every year.
A few years ago they undercut a sock reset so badly that all the reps were only paid for half our work. There was no notice of a hard stop time limit on the project either.
My current DM tries to lay the blame on the previous DM. I know good and well it wasn't his fault because I have a friend in another state who said it happened there too. It had to be nationwide.
Then a year or two after that they leaked everyone's private information and tried to smooth that all over by offering one year of free identity protection through Allclear ID. One year doesn't mean anything. Once your social security number and other important information is leaked it's out there forever. Identity theft could happen years down the way.
This information leak caused me to have to prove my identity to the IRS the following spring before I could get my tax refund.
The IRS wouldn't allow me to take care of this matter by phone and I had to schedule an appointment with the IRS office over an hour away. The soonest they could see me was three months out! Driveline cost me a whole day out going to see about this mess and delayed my tax refund for over three months.
I wasn't alone in this. I know others who encountered the same thing. One lady had to drive an hour and a half one way to her IRS office to prove her identity before she could receive her tax refund, all because of Driveline's leak.
What did I get for compensation? Only that one year free of Allclear ID, which I wouldn't have needed in the first place had it not been for Driveline!
Last year's fiasco was with their payroll company. In August they withdrew my paycheck about a week after they deposited it. I had already used it to pay bills. This caused me to have a $25 overdraft fee.
I wrote payroll about it immediately. Do you think they could get back with me? Not until November they didn't.
They took until December to fully straighten out that mess.
Now this year we have COVID-19, which no one can help, but Driveline's handling of the situation has been abysmal. They offered me time off for it. I got tired of being in stores where customer were coming in coughing and not covering their mouths. So I took the time off.
I made the mistake of telling HR that I had diarrhea for a few days and needed time off anyway. Never ever tell Driveline that. I thought I was covering myself in case I had caught something in the workplace. Lesson learned. Keep your mouth shut.
I also stated my thoughts on their stance about women's cosmetics resets being "essential." Randy Wilson, the CEO himself, replied to my letter to HR very shortly after I sent it. This was on a Sunday no less. He informed me that women's cosmetics were indeed essential because they had already been sent to the stores before this all took place. I stand by what I said and I'd say it to his face.
This was all as the rise in cases in surrounding counties were exploding and before Driveline was sending their generous $5 for reimbursement for REUSABLE gloves. Yeah… because I want to bring the germs home with me. I never got the $5 by the way because I took leave before they issued that.
Right now I'm waiting to see if they will accept a letter from my dietitian as a "work release" and proof that I don't have any "work restrictions."
I know people who are with multiple merchandising companies and they all say Driveline has handled this whole thing the absolute worst of any of the companies they're with.
At the rate things are going it wouldn't surprise me in the least if Driveline would discriminate against me for having sought consultation from a dietitian instead of from a medical doctor. I don't go to medical doctors and Driveline doesn't need to try to remove my personal choice for health care from me.
I wouldn't recommend Driveline to anyone unless you
1) want to be paid for half your time
2) want your paycheck withdrawn instead of deposited
3) want your social security number leaked, delaying your tax refund by months
4) want to work for a CEO who believes that Dollar General's women's cosmetics resets are more important than your health just because the store had already received the new items and fixtures before COVID-19 happened.
P.S. This lawsuit explains why the district managers are telling all of us reps not to go over 40 hours a week and repeating that like a broken record.
