Re: Intellishop caused me $300 in financial damages

I'm not taking issue one way or the other about Intellishop's reputation. Everyone has their own opinion.

The problem I have with this post is that if a forum member made a post about another forum member saying they were sleazy, that post would be addressed by the moderators. But -- it's okay with the moderators for a forum member to say an MSC is sleazy. Double standard? Or perhaps no standard at all?

Am I going blind or is my post the only one moved from that thread? Nope, not going blind.

Several of us have reported, trying to get the two Intellishop threads combined for some time. Vince started the two threads within days of each other. And it's gone on endlessly.

I agree with the concern that name-calling is not addressed when directed at MSCs. I express no opinion on Intellishop here, but I think if we allow unprofessional, bashing posts to stand, we are validating them.

Actually, a lot of personal attacks seem to be inconsistently addressed. And attacks against MSCs are not addressed at all.
Agree, AustinMom, with your post. Fairness and consistency would be much appreciated at all times. Treating the MSCs like our partners in business would be a much smarter approach and would reflect our own self esteem.

You brought up a good point, Mary. Although, I notice that when an MSC is bashed forum members are more likely to come to their defense than if another member is bashed for some reason. So, I think that in the past, moderation has been necessary. JJ seems to favor as little moderation as possible, and we seem to have been handling the MSC bashers rather well. However, I would like to see the titles changed. They don't deserve to have those glaring "Intelli-Shop Sucks" type of titles hanging out there.

There are two types of people in this world: Those who can extrapolate from incomplete data.
We apparently disagree. The people who own and run corporations are human beings and they have feelings. If you call the corporation sleazy, you call those people sleazy. A corporation is not a machine. A lawnmower is a machine. The lawnmower doesn't care if you call it sleazy, so you would never bother to call a lawnmower sleazy because you would get no payoff since the lawnmower has no feelings. It's hurtful to call a company sleazy, which is exactly why someone would do it. "Sleazy" is not descriptive of a machine and I have never seen it used to describe a machine. "Sleazy" is descriptive of a living human being and it is a disparaging term.

Here's another thought along those lines. I think part of the problem is that moderation has been extremely selective. When I use the Report function to report that one forum member has bashed another, there is a far greater chance that a moderator will edit the post than if I Report that a company has been bashed. Except for a couple of edits to bashing company threads, all made within the past week, Reports to request moderation to a thread bashing a company have been ignored. Because the moderators have often responded to personal bashing reports, it has not seemed as necessary to be the "Respect Police" as I've seen it described. Because reporting appallingly unprofessional slams against companies has historically been ignored, forum members have been more likely to come to their defense. In many cases, it is not so much that forum members are defending the MSC as that forum members are objecting to the unprofessional behavior.

My next door neighborhood's lawnmower is a complete slut. When I told her so, she started leaking gasoline all over the place.
Sybil, that's a shame the lawnmower next door is a slut. Nevertheless, it's heartless of you to tell her so and now not only is she a slut but she's a leaking slut which is the worst kind. A slut who can't contain herself is just despicable and deserves no respect or consideration whatsoever. May I suggest a strategically dropped match? Stand aside first, of course.

"Flaming" gets a new meaning. smiling smiley

Happily shopping Rhode Island and nearby Massachusetts and Connecticut
I share similar concerns, but to what avail? Many have asked for guidelines, as moderation seems subjective, uneven, unknown, and helter-skelter. Concerns have been unanswered.

Suggestions?
Holy Moses! I am starting to like the new format. For a while there I thought I was reading the old Forum.
